Pretty nice card, as expected. Faster in most current games than 480 (8GB), with lower TDP and less noise for about the same price.

The 480 and the 1060 made this price bracket very interesting. I mean, the 1060 is excellent for DX11 gaming but the 480 looks better on DX12 and Vulkan. Your choice depends of the approach you want to have with your pc gaming and also for how long you want to have that card. 1060 for short term and 480 for mid term. Also we have to see if Nvidia and AMD can improve on these 2 cards with driver updates.

DX11 ~7% faster than a RX480.
DX12 ~6% slower than a RX480.

And it costs like 50$ more than a 480 and is less future proof.
Doom Vulkan runs 30%+ faster on a 480 than a 1060.

Once newer games come out, that are DX12, this 1060 will be slower than a 480.
Atleast its not a good value buy.

^ only in Directx 11, in DX12 games its currently slower than a 480.

Basically, this his post just proves that this thread is just about bitching NIntendo.

Hadoram: uhm no. Thats called beeing objektive and those mentioned things all are facts.

Every company makes mistakes, speeking about them is not "bitching". I know this is hard to understand for fanboys though.

So I (hadoram) was banned for what ? Somebody blamed me i would bitch about nintendo by just giving my opinion based on facts. I do this about every company. That called critism.

The moderator need to be a huge fanboy to ban me for this LOL. He should ban the other guy who blamed me, not me by justing responding and explaining/disproving it.

I still won't consider anything nvidia again until they fix their DX12 performance issues, there's no excuse for this with the premium prices of their cards.
After having spent one year with my first nvidia card though, I must say that I'm really happy about my choice, it works perfectly, it's quiet and powerful as hell and there are no driver issues (so far).

Honestly, I wonder how much of an issue that will be in the future - AMD has async compute, and when that is used nVidia cards lag.

Knowing nVidia, they will do everything in their power (as they usually do) to make devs pay more attention to their "Enchanced Async", which is, if I've understood it correctly, not async at all but better preemptive.

Yeah the way i see it Is there are 12,000+ games in which the 1060 will offer better performance, while very few DX12/Vulkan games out there.

Those games which will also have DX11/OpenGL modes since Win 7 still has split marketshare with Win 10.

In the case of Doom, the benefits of Vulkan falls well north of 60 fps...so for most users its a non factor anyways.

Personally i see this as a perf/watt Nvidia win here, its just a more desirable solution.

However....the real threat comes with the RX490. That has a chance, if this proves to be an element of scale, of matching a 1070 in DX11 while utterly destroying a 1080 in DX12.

Nvidia's driver team will be put to the task for sure.

I'm bringing this thread back from the death because we have a confirmation of the GTX 1060 3GB variant, with less CUDA cores.

NVIDIA confirms GeForce GTX 1060 3GB has 1152 CUDA cores
