Yep 10-15% faster for 49$ more.

Damn. Wondering if I should just go for this instead of a 1070. Only going to do 1080p gaming anyway.

I would.

I think a 1070 is overkill for 1080p.

a RX 480 or 1060 should be plenty fast enough for it.

Definitely this. You can always buy a 2nd one later on once the price drops to like $200 in a year or so. 1 of these should give you enough power to max out pretty much every game at 1080p for at least a year, while adding a 2nd should allow you to max out just about every game at 1080p for a further 2 years.

Hmm yeah I think you're right. Probably won't go SLI though, I'll just turn down the settings ever so slightly to keep a steady 60 fps.

But now I need to change my plan for CPU xD no need for a 6600k if I'm having a 1060 haha.

Looking good, although I won't believe those performance claims until I see proper reviews.

What I wonder, tho, is how many GTX 1060 will actually cost $250. And the reason is that the GTX 1070 costs $399/449 (F.E.), but finding one at $399 is almost impossible, and I'm worried that it may be the same case with the 1060.

Please excuse my bad English.

Wow, cheap cards sure pack quite a punch these days! Now what I m most curious about is dx12 performance. Virtually all games from MS press conf will most certainly be running in dx12, bf1 seems to have a setting in dx12 and I m sure more EA games will have dx12 support. Deux Ex will also have dx12 support and the list goes on.

Now AMD's cards does see quite a gain in dx12 performance compared to Nvidia's. So I wonder how the 480 will be against the 1060 in dx12. I really do think dx12 should be a notable consideration at this point cause that will certainly be the future of most games.

Will you upgrade your CPU when you replace the 1060 with a new GPU?

YES => get a less capable processor, the 6600K isn't worth it.

NO => get the 6600K or higher, as a less capable CPU could become a bottleneck for your next-next card.

6500 is $40 cheaper than 6600k and should be more than enough for a single 1060. 6100 is $120 cheaper than 6600k, but will bottleneck the 1060 in certain CPU intensive games. Or you could wait for AMD's new Zen architecture later this year and see how it competes with Intel's offerings, that's what I'm doing.

I'm not building my PC until later this year when the cards drop down to their MSRP anyway, so I'll certainly keep an eye out for what Zen has to offer.

I'm sure there will be supply issues for the 1060 for awhile, same as 1080, 1070, and RX 480, leading to higher prices. In a couple of months though once AIB partners start releasing their custom cards prices should return to MSRP hopefully.

The question is, why would Asus, MSI, Gigabyte, XFX, EVGA, etc. charge less than the F.E. is they charge the same or more?

They can price them at $399 (GTX 1070) / $249 (GTX 1060, but they can also charge more than that and gain extra money.
