I saw it but I need text that I can read.

This is a local story here, and there is more information unfolding by the day. I have to admit even i jumped to conclusions when i saw the video but there appears to be more nuance than we thought. To be sure I still have lot of doubts it is a justified shooting but there is a possibility it's not so black and white.

First of all the police officer that killed him is mexican, not white.

The star tribune reported that he did have a permit to have the gun, although the source is just "a source."

audio has been released from before the police officer walked up to the car that shows us that he believed that castile matched the description of robbery suspect that there was a BOLO (be on the look out) out for and that was the reason he pulled him over (not the broken tail light).

The police officer said he saw the gun on his lap and told him not to move, he says he reached for the gun and that is when he shot him. There are some pictures out there that appear to show a gun on castile's lap, although it's hard to say for sure.

this video from a facebook livestream has recently been found showing castile's girlfriend smoking weed with castile while driving with their daughter in the car. It's not related to the incident but it isn't the type of image we are seeing in the media. The way she keeps looking at herself and showing herself off is just creepy.

Additional informaiton shows that Castile has also been pulled over more than 50 times for minor-major traffic incidents, most of which were not ticketed. This record is kept by police and the more often a person is pulled over the more likely they are to be pulled over in the future.

This situation and the evidence now being released to the public is the reason why we can't be so fast to jump to conclusions and immediatly blame someone without knowing much. This is what I have been trying so hard to express in my previous posts on this thread.

It is terrible that this incident fueled by false information led to the Riot on I94 and Grand Ave that erupted during the protest. 102 citezen arrests, 21 injured police officers, one of which had a broken vertibrae and will likely not be able to work anymroe because of it.

Looks like classic discrediting of the witness in a case of her word against the officer's.  Getting pulled over more than 50 times with no ticketable offense for the majority sounds like pure harassment to me. Plus there's still the overkill factor. 4 shots, no warning shot.
And it's not just this incident that fueled the mostly peaceful demonstrations.

I think it is obvious police need better training in USA to avoid shooting a person to death when they can obviously resolve the situation with less violence or non lethal means. Cops used to be all about using tasers but now apparently they like to fire off shots first. What happened to the good old beat down with a billy club or flashlight? Is that too taboo now after Rodney King?

Let us take the situation in Minn. So he was possibly reaching for his gun either on his lap, pocket, or stuffed in back of his pants... I haven't watched the videos nor do I really care to. The cop could have pulled his taser out and rendered him unable to grab the gun if he was so scared of someone potentially reaching for the gun. Cops should never fire onto someone for simply reaching in their pockets (only excuse would be if they actually pulled a gun out and started aiming it towards them). Hell, and if they for some reason feel a need to buck off a few shots why don't they hit them in a non lethal area like a limp or shoulder instead of firing off a clip into their mid section. I know the mid section is easy to hit but this cop in Minn was probably only a few feet away from the "suspect". There is no excuse for cops being this piss poor trained and not able to defuse the situation in a less lethal way.

I believe a few police stations are actually looking to other countries to see how they resolve certain situations without the use of a gun and that can only be a good thing. Somehow other countries are able to arrest and detain criminals or suspects without having to resort to the means of killing them.

While the situation is a bit strange, I still wonder what the hell is thought at Police Academy in the US?

if the guy was planning on shooting the cop, what point is there is saying he had a gun...wouldnt it make sense to not tell the cop you have a gun...

If he had it on his lap, or in visible sight he probably told the officer that he had a permit for it in advance of being asked by the officer. And if he had intended to use it, it was likey a thought that came afterwards, or he was saying he had a permit so that he could possibly catch the officer off guard. But this is just theorizing possible motives based on inconclusive "evidence" seeing we don't know if he had a gun visiable or not or if the officer is being truthfull in his statements.

This informaiton may have been released as an attempt to discredit the gunshot victim, however, it does show a pattern.

As to your warning shot comment, police will not give a warning shot, ever. There is too much risk at the bullet striking an innocent or having that warning shot retaliated before they have a chance to use stopping force. The idea of a warning shot is a hollywood concept only.

I have seen many videos of the protest in question and it was by no means "Mostly Peaceful." How can it be mostly peaceful when moltov coctails are being thrown, or explosive fireworks, or rocks, or contructions rebar and concrete. This particular protest was far from peaceful.  Most of the other protests have been peaceful, but this particular one was spawned entirely due to this shooting and was violent.
