Of course referring to characters that don't live in a society like ours, or characters who do, but do really outlandish things in it.

Examples: Mario would obviously be a plumber or carpenter, Fox McCloud might join the Air Force, Link could decide to be a soldier, etc.

I can't really think of anymore, so I hope you all have good ideas.
