Married life is da bomb. I can't even comprehend not having a second person's brain around to bounce ideas off of and share life together. I literally can't remember not being married (I remember events, but I don't remember mentally what it was like having only my thoughts to concern myself with).

Man I feel pathetic. Don't even have a GF right now, and I'm 26. Then again, I'd never tell vgchartz if I was getting married (sorry guys, but too person for me). Even so, if you think she is the right woman, go for her! Trust me, regret can be something that lasts a lifetime.

Equally importantly, take to time to travel with your kids when you eventually get them. Travelling with my family is/has been hugely important to me throughout my childhood.

Your relationship status is not a measure of your quality of life or your character, so don't use it as a measure of your self worth! You're still young. If you're ready for a relationship, there is plenty of time to make self improvements and make yourself more attractive to others.

There is a decent number of married users on here, or people who have been married before so they would have great advice to give on pitfalls to avoid during the relationship.

That said @OP I wish you all the luck in the world, if it's something which is coming to your mind after a nice long and healthy relationship then chances are it is probably on her mind too so you shouldn't expect her to be completely shocked and stunned by your intentions hopefully she will just be happy that you asked her to seal the deal with your love.

As a few others have said here though, I can only advise that you do take time to make her know she's special (and hopefully she does the same for you) not just on valentines and days where the calender suggests that you should but also just on days where one of you is tired and the other makes a meal or sets up a nice movie to watch for your partner, it's those little things which make a marriage great I think.

You never know man tbh, sometimes you can be so happy in a relationship you want to just shout it from the rooftops for all to hear.

That said, just because you are single now that is a very important thing to be able to get used to too, some people have issues living on their own and taking care of themselves, I personally feel you need to be perfectly able to live with yourself before you can consider sharing your life with someone else, so you just need to be building yourself as a great person for that point where you do feel your ready to share your life and meet the right person.
