Are you getting paid by the point, Abbath? :-

If that would be the case I would have retired from VGChartz couple of years ago with a premium pension.

Do handheld systems count as consoles? Just wondering.

Total fair game.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

My NES is still working, so that's roughly 24 or 25 years. Can't remember exactly how old I was when I got it.

SNES still works wonderfully!

Never had a console break down on me, so my original PlayStation.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Ok.. so i can conclude that:
1. Consoles that use game cartridge have extremely long life span.
2. Consoles that use optical laser have short life span ( 5 - 10 years )

It's time to bring back cartridges to next-gen consoles then :)

Not true. I have A PSone, PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim, GC, Wii. All functioning.

Did you play your consoles heavily? I had 2 siblings and 4 cousins that used our consoles. All of our consoles that used optical laser died. All of them.

3 fat Ps1, 2 slim PsOne, 2 fat Ps2, 1 slim Ps2... All of them died........ LOL we had great fun day and night.

The same didn't happen to our Nintendo Ds.

My Nintendo still gets some use, from 1986 to the current year its my longest functional console since its only 1 year older then myself :P

None of my consoles have died as of now. The oldest one I own is an NES but I don't know whether that counts or not since I just bought it last year. (Still an original model though.)

The oldest ongoing console I currently own (which my family bought) would be an N64 from 1998.

My original Megadrive still works perfectly, my NES works... but not perfectly, sometimes it goes into a resetting loop when starting a new game, can be a pain in the ass, it can still work, just... sometimes that happens.

Also my Game Boy Pocket that I got 20 years ago works perfectly still to this day, replaced the plastic over the screen many moons ago with a CD case piece of plastic... because my original one was destroyed from keys in my pocket with it (derp) also i guess I was 12 or 13 lol.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

NES - 27 years
SNES - 20 years
Saturn - 18 years
N64 - 17 years
PlayStation 17 years

Aside from some memory issues/losing saves, I've never really had any problems with these. PS2, PS3, 360 each had to be replaced, current gen is going well, touch wood.

Don't ruin the moment

Currently Playing: Rocket League (PC/PS4), Dead Cells (PC)
