Forums - Sales Discussion - Oculus, Vive, and Gear VR sales Estimates

Around the Network

how is this guy and why should i trust his estimates?

..but in line with what i'd believe.

I wonder if that gear VR sales counts the free ones you get if you pre-ordered the Galaxy s7.

Either ways, most people have phones that are capable of giving a "VR experience." Its not as good as the Vive/Oculus but as far as watching/playing porn content goes, you don't need to be very accurate. So it makes sense.

I think for Oculus/Vive to really take off, they need to cut down the price by a lot. Oh and for Oculus to stop doing stupid shit.

Even only selling 100k brings in a lot of revenue. Are Oculus and Vive priced with big margins?

He's a VR Dev and he gets the data from public data, sales data that was given to them and rumored data.

Seems alright though it does make me wonder how there were supply issues. Hoping for a big push in the holidays. Definitely gonna get my Rift this year.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

wow its unbelievable how fast occolus has failed, now they are pretty much at the same level like vive despite the mainstream media only cherry picking them when it came to VR related news. Facebook has no choice to buzz off from videogames, i except PS VR to sell over 2 Million units this year by the way.

So...why are we supposed to believe him? Who is he?

Though, if that is true...I have a feeling PSVR will outsell both Vive and Rift by the end of this year.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

I never expected VR to become a thing yet, simply too expensive and not nearly tempting enough yet. This is also why I laugh at the notion that VR will cause a huge surge in sales for the PS4 when Morpheus releases.

Do we know how much they sell them to retailers and how much they cost to make? Basically profit per unit. A third of RRP?

All we know right now is that Vive brought in $80,000,000 between retailers an HTC and Oculus brought in $60,000,000 between retailers and Facebook.
