Crazy that people still think hardware sales will decrease.

Hardware sales WILL decrease, not substantially. But it's stupid to assume there are no people on this planet who will not buy an XBO because it's exclusives are now on PC.

Basically the only way it would hurt profits is if they sell less Gold Subcriptions and less Third Party Xbox games, while i'm sure they will sell "less" of both it will be by an amount too small to not be made up by the sales of their games on PC.

Xbox profits (slightly down)
Microsoft Games Division Profits Overall (up)

So, you're saying that Steam's marketshare is about to drop?

Errr no. I'm saying sales of Microsofts first party games on PC will make more money then the loss of revenue from Xbox Services and Third Party games.

It won't be noticeable.

Scenario 1: Most games release on Windows Store
- Their Xbox sales won't be inpacted but PC Gamers will spread hate around the internet

Scenario 2: Most/all games released on Steam but limited multiplayer crossplay
- Software sales will increase

Scenario 3 Most/all games released on Steam full multiplayer crossplay
- Software sales increase
- Xbox games and hardware decrease duo to pc advantage

He's basically asking you for some sort of source or explanation to back up your statement.

Okay. Microsoft's annual profit is at about 20 Billion. Any positive/negative impact from this move will be so miniscule compared to that, that it won't be noticeable.

In the long term, when they get established properly in the PC space, and hopefully prove worthy of PC gamers trust, then this move will probably lead to an increase in profits. But it will be drowned in all the other profit, so it won't be noticeable.

PC gaming makes up a small market of AAA games.

Having the xbox games / experience on a pc platform is not going to hurt the console brand and at the same time its not going to bring them any real extra revenue because of the W10 stuff.

If MS wanted to increase their revenue from the PC market they should have invested in some token top down / card game that would do well in korea or something like that.

I have no idea what their goal is, but I don't think they are expecting to make much money from it.

Windows 10 store sucks. Won't have much of an imp[act imo.
