Forums - Website Topics - Issue with locking threads.

I understand that they are necessary. Though is there any possibility of a real time notification for when a thread get's locked or if it can detect if a person is replying to a message. I don't want to come off as if I am complaining, but this is the second time where I replied with a long response to a post. I had about 6 paragraphs in response to the guy complaining about Metroid, which was rather amusing. I was also trying to explain the style of Metroidvania from both a gamer and developer perspective. Why they are a hallmark of game design and precisely why they are designed the way they are. Ugh, I really wished I copied my reply and pasted it for it's own thread so it's partially my fault.

A good recommendation is that if the thread is locked. A little pop up or notification would let us know that they thread is locked so our replies are not meaningless or lost and our time is not wasted. That way we can keep the content of our response and modify it for its own thread for discussion. Such a feature would be greatly appreciated and I think the majority of us would benefit from it.

I want to thank and mod in advance for taking the time to read this.

This website used to be so much cooler. You could still post in a locked thread if you got their before the lock, you could edit posts in locked thread, you could even post on banned people's walls. Hell some people were so awesome that they made posts in threads before the OP even could

Will relay this input to the mod team, and see if there's anything we can do.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Just want to say that I did NOT intentionally double post the tread. I hit post and was very surprised to see two of them stacked on the VGChartz Buddy. It's rather ironic and hilarious that this happened tbh xD

Though no I didn't so I apologies about that. I have no idea how that happened :/

Does mods have the ability to delete or at least cover posts?

Edit: Because I know other forums that can do that and even combine threads together (like the posts from one thread goes to this thread)

Thanks and on this note. Why can't we delete our own threads? :O I mean if we screw up bad enough or double post. We should have the option to do so. I also can't even figure out how to delete a post. All I can do is delete the content and leave it near blank or put little something else written in it.  That would also be a nice addition. Considering it's one of the basic functions of any forums. I'm guessing there is a reason it's not allowed on this site?

I think the reason it's not allowed here is from a moderation point of view, I could be wrong of course, but if you were to see that all the moderators were currently offline (which you can see from the users active) then you could put up a thread or post flaming the hell out of a system and delete it afterwards, I'm fairly sure... there are some weakness's to how certain area's of this site work with regards to the reporting system in terms of the mods do not get a copy of what you reported, unless you screen shot it and send it to them directly "hand motion" to them

As for posting in threads that are locked... yeah it was the case before if you had the reply window up you could post into a thread which was locked, which meant that people could just leave a bunch of reply windows open or just get the url from the unlocked thread and post in it the following day, that is why it's faster to just disallow posting as soon as a mod has made it so, I guess if you are posting in a thread which you think there is a chance it might get locked due to content the only safe bet for now before hitting submit would be to CTRL+A and CTRL+C your post content, then stick it on the OP's wall after if the thread is locked?

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Actually you used to be able to post in a locked thread but that ability was removed. This is because it could be exploited and people used a glitch in order to continue posting in a thread which was locked (as all that happened was the "reply" buttons and boxes were inaccessible). It is frustrating if you wrote a long post but my advice is at least for now copy the text on the (extremely rare) chance the thread is locked. Also I believe a simple click on the back arrow should return you to your post text intact.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.
