Forums - Gaming Discussion - Some "console fans" just accepted that PC is the superior gaming platform.

By denouncing that buying a Xbox One is pointless if Microsoft's exclusives are shared with PC. This stance implies that the only reason to own consoles over PCs is because of exclusives, otherwise this whole backlash against Xbox Play Anywhere would be nonexistent. This stance also ignore price point and consumer friendliness so, It seems, exclusives is what it comes down to, and thats truth for fans of all consoles since Microsoft fans aren't alone when critzicing this move.

How does this proves "console fans" just accepted that PC is the best gaming platform? Well, if you take out exclusives, as Microsoft just did with the Xbox One, then, according to those against this move, there is no point in owning a console such as the Xbox One. In other words, all things being equal it would be pointless to buy a console. Simple.

This doesn't apply to all console gamers, but only to those who are against the prospect of console exclusives being available on PC. Because if there was any real advantage to consoles besides exclusives then... Why be so reprehensive of these exclusives finding their way to PC?

Isn't most a bit of an overstatement?

What people are saying is that its that most people got a PC, because it does more than, you know, play games. So it would be easier for the casuals(in general) to own a PC instead of a XOne.Not only that, but XOne having no exclusive makes it pointless to buy compared to the other console, and that it would be better to own a PS4 intead of XOne, since you could play the XOne in the PC, since most people, again, already own a PC.Its not a matter of who is superior, but of convenience.Plus you dont pay to play online(a extra paywall I mean) in PC, so there is that plus.

exclusive games
sizes (I want my gaming device in my living room under my tv, small pcs are rare and expensive/less powerfull)
priece
Where are my friends at (want to play togehter)
Controlls (I want to play with my controller on my couch. Sure its possible on pc too but doesnt make fun to play online against mouse/keyboard guys)

That are my reasons.

But one question remains..

Who cares?

bet: lost

I think that its a pretty big jump to make. You're jumping from "Microsoft lowered the appeal of the Xbox One by making its games available elsewhere" all the way to "Consoles are pointless"

I don't even think its a forgone conclusion that the Xbox One is pointless, just not required for someone who wants access to every publisher anymore as the last one that was exclusive to it has diversified.

Its also pointless to even make it a PC vs Console thing as the same thing would be said by the same folks if the xbox library was suddenly going to be avilable on the NX or PS4 instead. Its not about what platform is better, its about access to more games for your dollars.

I've changed the title from "most" to "some", because the former is silly.

I think it's okay to leave this thread open for now (there is legitimate discussion to be had here), but let's try and keep it clean. Consider this post a universal first warning; if you feel the need to engage in a pissing contest, find a friend a toilet. This isn't the place.

The average gamer do not want to fuck about piecing together a gaming PC and all the other stuff needed to get it up and running. People underestimate the value of convenience and working straight out the box which makes me laugh when I hear "but for the same price you can build a PC" blah blah blah!

PC gaming you take up 2 hobbies and I get that. Consoles is just about the gaming and the convenience of just plug it in and play is appealing to many.

Both have their strong and weak points.

I'd rather have a laptop than a desktop, thank you.
