Sounds like a great gimmick only used by a handful of Nintendo games.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Holy smokes this video is old!

Ugh, I've had enough with gimmicks but I fear the insane success that the Wii was at one time is too tempting for Nintendo and as a matter of fact other companies not to attempt to capture.

Whatever the NX is, I just want it to be Nintendo's sole platform after it's released so that it can focus on releasing software to that one platform.

you should read the thing cause it's not 3d, it's a parallax angle for 2d display. I don't know how more immersion with the world of the game is a bad thing but i guess that gimmicks are bad when is Nintendo.

Doesnt matter who makes it - whether its Sony, Nintendo or MS - gimmicks are bad overall.

so vr is bad? rumble pak was bad? remote play is bad?, double screen is bad?  this patent, the control of a camera with different angles and immersion is bad?  i think that your definition of gimmick is bad, because these gimmicks have a functionality, which is important if we want to keep innovating or if we want new things.

It's like one little thing you could do with a kinect... but would bother.

This is just virtual reality that uses the T.V. instead of a headset. VR is literally in the title and it requires a head mounted device (the glasses). Nintendo won't be doing this as they were adamant against VR. This would likewise inhibit most couch coop games affects most mario games and smash bros) since only 1 person controls the view.

Everything you listed was garbage.

No one cares about controller innovation. Its only the vocal minority who cares about it - a.k.a. forum goers.

Majority just wants to play games with great gameplay, enjoy stellar visuals and to get as much content whether its through multiplayer or SP content without the use of a middleman gimmick.

if no one cares about controller innovation we should be playing with a joystick and a button, or with one dpad and 2 buttons. Plus i don't know how games with great gameplay and stellar visuals can't go hand to hand with controller innovation... perfect example? Mario 64, controller innovation and stellar visuals, with great gameplay. Btw this patent is about the control of the camera, that affects gameplay immersion, nobody is talking about the controller. anyways, you have your mindset, that's ok.

Well, if they can get an amazing game to show or two out the gate when they reveal the NX it could be big.

I also think it's time for everyone to come down from the dream clouds of "insiders" telling everyone its going to be on par or beat Neo or Scorpio. No one should be surprised by this.

That guy works for google, useing some of this tech, for AR with mobile phones.

Its a intresting concept, however it ll promote standing to play, and moveing around the room.
Nintendo would need to bring back motion controllers like the Wii motes, for this concept to work.

(they cant do a heavy gamepad solution for a controller, with this concept).

They would have to make game concepts that could work with it..... which could be hard.

This technology has been in the works for a long time. Nintendo started playing with 3D back with the Game Cube days. I remember hearing that they even showed off the technology at E3 behind closed doors but I can't find the sources.

I also remember there was a lot of rumors that the then called "Revolution" was going to support this technology and potentially even have a built in projector at one point. I'm curious to see where this goes.

This is pretty cool and would solve Nintendo's "we can't do VR because we have a gamepad" problem. It's suicide for anything with local multiplayer, though.

You know, unless this tech was on the gamepad screen, and not (just) the TV screen.

Also, this will be a pain in the ass to program for for any game with a moving camera. Just think about it.
