They are not slashing prices so that nerds like us can discuss their numbers. Yeah, they have a lot of stock, that's why they are dropping the price before the S comes out. They are going to announce the release date of the 500GB and 1TB S models this week, and if those are in late August, then sales of the fat model will drop. Retailers want those gone before all the S models.

And Sony wouldn't need to clear PS4 stock for the Neo since they are meant to be sold side by side. The S will completely replace all the fat bundles.

It's amazing that you can look at all the price cuts for X1 and the need to keep slashing month after month to move stock and not see it as a problem for MS. They should of been able to run the basic X1 stock dry just by shipping less these past few months and then release the slim.  But its clear they had been overshipping and have had to resort firesales for several months now and the channel still isn't clear.

Still looks like Xbox One is outselling the PS4 on amazon.
Mostly due to the slim versions.... August should be in the bag for Xbox.

Let's say August is definitely in the bag for the XB1 'IF' Sony haven't got something up their sleeves. Look at what a $10 (TEN DOLARS) price drop has done for the Fool's Edition. As it stands though, the XB1 will win August.

Your initial post was about your worries that Microsoft's actions could devalue the console market. What I am saying is that the console market had already devalued before Microsoft started with their deals, and therefore the deals were a consequence of a devalued market. It's not like Microsoft had a choice, unless they had been fine with Sony pulling far ahead of them.

Although when I look over the flow of this conversation again, the main issue you had was that I said something about stale software. That's because the most obvious explanation for decreasing console sales is less interesting software.

We know why the overall sales are down when comparing 8th gen to 7th gen. So far MS and Sony's 8th gen consoles have outsold their 7th gen consoles. Other than the Wii, please name any other home console that has sold as fast as PS2 or PS4.

...I mean, how freaking long Pokémon is still that high?

The special edition is still in TOP 3 after... i don't even remember, is about 3 weeks is still in TOP 5 or even 3?

And even Pokémon Moon and Sun still in TOP 20, i mean, the fuck, not even Infinite Warfare did that crazy on Amazon.
