Portugal line up and players in the midfield don't resonate with your possession theory.

portugal does not play with a striker, nani and ronaldo are the most attacking players. renato sanches will make a world of a difference just like he did for benfica this season. hear me now, quote me later. portugal will have most of the possession today and poland will be looking for the fast counters.

Portugal usually plays in 4-2-3-1 or 4-5-1 whenever they know they can control the match. The reason for playing today on 4-4-2 on a diamond formation is solely for counter attack purpose, Adrien will be the creative midfielder and we all know he's no Deco to dictate the plays or hold the ball. Renato and Joao Mario will give assistance to the full backs that will play as wing back.

If you want to know about Poland's football prowess you might want to talk to Rol directly. Or if you want the opinion of someone who actually understands football you'd better ask Scisca.

My opinion is that they have so far proven nothing. Their inability to score goals despite having some serious talents in their attack reminds me of Holland, but their team is overall lower quality. If they actually manage to beat Portugal today that is gonna be on Portugal alone.

I hope Scisca doesn't see this post. :-s

Can they control the game if Portugal relinquishes possession? because that's what Portugal is going to do. They have 3 center and 1 defensive midfielders just to stop Poland's defense and feed Ronaldo and Nani. Two of the most creative of their midfielders are injured and they have less decision makers in the middle.

The question is if Poland leaves the field to them. Weaker teams tend to let the stronger team play while waiting for counter opportunities. Unless Poland grows some balls and attacks from the start, this could get pretty dreary with Portugal not knowing what to do with the ball and Poland hesitant to leave their defense exposed.

The best thing that could happen to the game is an early Portugal goal.

portugal has been playing 442 the whole euro, nani is not playing as an actual winger now. but we will see, i guarantee portugal will take the ball for the most part in this match. unless they score too early and feel comfortable letting poland taking some risks.

Let's hope for an entertaining match. Portugal have many starting 11 guys out for the count due to physical problems.

On the first game they played in 4-2-3-1 with Eder in the front if I'm not mistaken. however, 442 is not their natural style, which is too direct.

Poland will win this, 2-1, that's all I have to add.

It's like a coin toss on who wins. Both teams lack tactics and quality. If we are lucky we might see a lot of cards because of players losing self control.

What qualities?

The quality for me to tell you I know who is going to win. The one side that might have a couple of good players lacks the ability to perform as a team. The other side has surprised me in a negative way. They can play Germany but other opponents...

eder came in late in the game, i believe after the 75th minute if im not mistaken to search for the winning goal. rafa silva came in on the 85th minute too
