I must be little paranoid here, but looks like Nintendo slowly start to drops all the online-related segments for Wii U games.

I mean, even if it is the last event, I'd hope Nintendo would remain their WiiU online components for at least NX's half lifespawn, right?

It depends on activity really. Every company takes things down due to inactivity.

Highly doubt it. Maybe they're done with THIS specific kind of support for Splatoon, but that don't necessarily means that this is going to extend to all Wii U online services.



My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Nintendo is not doomed, but Splatoon players are. At least until Spla2oon is out for NX.
I think I have over 300 hours in Splatoon. A lot of fun.

Not really, they have been supporting this game with updates for a lot longer than most of their other games

Multiplayer won't be turned off that quickly

I would more likely to worry that less people are playing this game because of the NX launch, etc.

I'm sure online for the WiiU will continue for a long time, specially because there aren't that many games that demand really big online resources. But they will quietly move those to the NX once it's released. If the WiiU keeps its online after MK9's launch, I'll consider it decent support.
