Forums - Sales Discussion - PS3 elite confirmed

I don't think Korea has a big piracy problem. HK and China are pretty bad, but not Korea or Japan.

Why do you think this isn't going to be the standard SKU for the launch in Korea? Also why is everyone assuming the price will be more expensive than the 60 gb one?

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

It's confirmed. Sony is deliberately trying to throw away their game division.

Uh, I don't think they got the memo but, um, you're not supposed to release systems at HIGHER prices once you release a system. Something to do with buyer's gravity or something like that.

First of all isn't Korea a totally non-console market for the most part preferring to stick with PCs?

Secondly, yes isn't console gaming, a Japanese kind of thing, gonna run into added difficulty due to friction some Koreans and Japanese have towards one another? At least I've heard of historic beef between the Koreans and the Japanese.

And thirdly, don't they realize they'll run into the same problem they have everywhere else around the world with that premium price?

Sony has become a videogame industry blooper reel at this point! What's going on?

WE ARE THE NATION...OF DOMINATION!

That's great timing from Sony, launching this in Korea just after Blizzard announced Starcraft 2.

At this moment, I'd guess that most Koreans are more worried about saving money for a nice PC to play SC2 when it's released, than about buying an expensive console...

PS: No, SC2 will not be launched for the PS3. Not any other console, for that matter...

My Mario Kart Wii friend code: 2707-1866-0957

maybe koreans will think the ps3 is some kind of spaceship from starcraft :> =)))))))))))))))))))))

Topic is wrong, should probably be fixed. No such thing confirmed at all.

They're not going to release an 80GB model at a more expensive price, that would be ridiculous (even for Sony). No one will pay any more money for 33% more storage.

The likely reason is because 80GB HDD's are more price effective than 60GB. Hard drives in general don't get cheaper to build, just larger. This will most likely be a straight replacement of the 60GB model.

Expect to see an 80G model hit the rest of the world if they ever manae to sell through their current stock. They were probably expecting to be able to replace the60B model by now but have manufactured too many 60GB models.

This makes sense. How long until current stocks are sold through, i wonder? At this pace it will take a while..=)

Nobody commented about the fact that this PS3 has no Emotion Engine Chip. WTF??? How is it going to play PS2/PS1 games now? They remove the chip, and add 20 GB??? This was an excuse for Bill Harrison to get more gay porn vids on his PS3.

that's because it's old news. The Euro/Australian versions of the PS3 have no EE, and use Software Emulation to play PS2/1 games.

US/Japan version apparently to follow.
