Forums - Gaming Discussion - A game entry or entries you didn't like in a franchise you generally love

There are tons of series where quality has dropped off in some way, but Resident Evil is my favorite game series and the only games I don't like out of all 35 or so unique releases (including spinoffs) are:

Outbreak and Outbreak File 2
Umbrella Corps
and RE7 looks like garbage

LoZ: Phantom Hourglass - ambitious for a portable Zelda but it ended up being tedious with the amount of backtracking to the Temple of the Ocean King and uninteresting overworld

Metroid Prime Hunters - multiplayer was great fun but the single player story was rather dreadful

MGS V: PP - unfinished overall and weak story despite the good gameplay

Mega Man 8 - overall very mediocre game that suffers from frustrating level design, poor weapons and terrible voice acting

Considering it was running on a 66mhz processor though, how great a job did hunters do of converting the gamecubes Metroid Prime Gameplay into a portable?

Most Sonic games.

*99% of the sonic franchise

Ya know... I actually sadly enjoy most of the Sonic cartoons, Loved the heck out of Sonic the Comic back in the 90s, still have the first 100 or so issues of that comic actually, the only cartoon series of Sonic that I couldn't stand was the one with the 3 siblings all voiced by the same guy, jesus that was terrible, where they have instruments to "jam" on and there mother is a queen of the universe, if you've not seen the thing I'm talking about it's worth downloading an episode or 2 just to cringe at, seriously it's animated like a show from the 80s or before, just zero budget or effort gone into it and yeah all 3 main chars voiced by 1 talentless fucker.

I just bought RE6 for the PS4. It seems to be not as well liked as the previous entries. I watched Conan play it on Clueless Gamer, and thought it looked pretty cool.

Question: if you dislike more than 50% of a franchise, do you like the franchise or just some of the games in the franchise?

It got the essentials down pretty well so it does feel like you're playing Prime on the go but the main issue was the level design. Overall the environments weren't too interesting and the game was very linear. It also got pretty tedious, you visit a planet, after you make some progress you will fight a hunter, kill the boss tower thing  which then triggers and escape sequence and then go back to your ship.

Despite that, the game was pretty impressive for it's time and while it hasn't aged well, I do have to appreciate the effort that went into it.

You're talking about Sonic Underground 😂😂

What a horrible show. Used to watch it as a kid though.

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

Considering the hardware, they did an amazing job. I remember being stunned when I saw Hunters running on a friend's DS back in 2006.

Ironically, it does a better job of evoking the look of a Metroid Prime game than Federation Force does on hardware a generation more powerful.

I counted those franchises as non-favored, so I excluded them. For example I love one third of the Infamous series and one half of the Killzone series, so those are ineligible. I figure you need to like at least 51% of something for it to be a favorite. But that's just my interpretation.

You crazy Slar?! SMB3 is the best NES game ever, let alone one of the best Mario games made! : P Maybe you did play it in the wrong order..

Exactly.

And Super Mario World is the best Mario game ever made, thank you very much, crazy Cloud.

Now that's crazy. Clearly, Super Mario Sunshine is the best Mario game ever made : P Probably no one said ever.
