Sony plans to ship 20 million units of the PlayStation 4 during the current fiscal year, with momentum likely to be fueled by releases of blockbuster game titles and a high-end version of the console.

Macquarie Securities analyst Damian Thong said Sony might also introduce a slimmer version of the PlayStation. Sony declined to comment on that possibility. The new variations of the console might be released at a game show in September, Mr. Thong said.

I hope this means the PS4 Neo will be stronger than the 4.2TF, meaning both are targeting for different users

I am corious how they will make the PS4 even slimmer. I hope they make the powersupply external and aim for the same size like the Wii U

yeah but the PS4 is allready small enough, they just could keep producing in this form factor.

yeah but the PS4 allready is allready small enough, they could just keep producing in this form factor.

I'm sure they can make it slimmer, it's been 3 years since launch. PS4 is small compared to Xbox One but it isn't that small.

My guess would be slim for holidays 2016 and neo next year?  I just don't see the point in both so close together.

if there is a huge power and price diffrence it absolutely would make sense. And both models wouldnt eat up the sales of one another as they would be released simultaneously

Unless its cheaper for them to make a slim, and sell that, than the older model PS4... I dont think they should do it.

Maybe they think the XBox S will eat into the HDR cake too much, and they might try to sneak something "slim" out with HDMI 2.1/HD-Blu-ray drive
