Male or Female?

Male 99 40.08%

Female 64 25.91%

Both 82 33.20%

Other 2 0.81%

Total:247

I naturally play as my own gender in real life. It's just a habit I have. I feel I can connect with the character more that way.

Eh, difficult to say. I play as both. But I have no idea what makes me play one gender over the other.

Oblivion and Skyrim I play as a female.
Yokai Watch as a male.
Splatoon as a male.
MMORPG's as a male.
Xenoblade Chronicles X as a male.
Pokemon Y as male.
Fire Emblem Fates as a female.

Hm.. I guess male wins.

I play as a female, even my summoner war Account has a female themed name. I chose the redhead, in Mass Effect.

I usually use male if it's story heavy since I like to put myself in the narrative, but otherwise, I usually play as a female

I generally play as male, as I am one, but there are certain games where I prefer the female player such as Fire Emblem Fates, so I chose female.

OP, can you add "Both" to the poll?

If it's something like The Elder Scrolls or Dark Souls, I pick a man. I usually model him after myself.

But when faced with a selection of pre-made characters, I'll go with the one that suits my play style. For example, in Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II, I played as Alessia Faithfammer, a female cleric.

I play as both.

Honestly, I find female characters to typically have more variety, as far as physical appearance goes. Males are usually a little more straightforward and cliché.

I almost always play as a male and try making him look as female as the editor allows me to do so.
