Well the PSP prooved that there is room for a second handheld ... now all they hae to do is to fully exploit it , and dont let go the second year as they did with the PSP itself ...

the big question is when they do the psp2 are they going to try the dual screen thing or not

If piracy was harder on PSP, it may have sold a bit more software, but it would definitely have sold less hardware, so that would compensate. Piracy generally have little effet on sales, since most of pirates wouldn't buy anything if they couldn't have it free.

"It's not like the console world at all, and it's something we've been preaching for a while," he added, pointing to key franchises such as God of War and Daxter appearing on the handheld in unique, handheld-specific incarnations.

The key is "making a unique game under that umbrella and making it creative and have it be something that you can't play on console", explained Koller.

This is basically empty marketing-speak. If you want to talk about unique experiences you can't play on a console, Chains of Olympus is the last title in the world you should mention. The game is 100% God of War, with nothing gained and nothing lost from the transition to handheld format. And of course, that's what makes it awesome -- but it represents pretty well the exact opposite of what he's trying to say.

If you want to see a platform that's exploited the unique aspects of handheld gaming, look at the DS. In fact, it's gone too far down that road for my tastes, to the point that I have no interest in owning one. But if that's our measure of success, then the PSP doesn't even register.

Borkachev : he probably meant unique in the handheld market ... or story wise ... who cares , untill both are great games I dont care if he means unique for the PC lol

Yea, this worked great for Patapon, Lumines, LocoRoco, etc...

The highest selling PSP games are multi-plat sport games and GTA.

Yeah , some multiplatform games did and doing well . See also : MHF games , Midnight Club 3 , Tekken DR and famous console franchises like MGS , Ridge Racer , Star Wars Battlefront etc .
