Forums - Gaming Discussion - Games you thought were meh but you changed your mind when you actually played them

Persona 4: I thought it looked too "weeby" for me, but it turned out to be one of my favorite JRPG's made.

Super Paper Mario: I hated the change in the gameplay from the original two, but after playing it, I really enjoyed it(but still not as much as the first two).

Skyward Sword: Motion controls were a huge turnoff for me, but it ended up being my favorite 3D Zelda.

Kingdom Hearts and Trauma Center. I thought both games would be dumb, and then I played them...

RE: Revelations, Frontlines: Fuel Of war, Quantum Break :D

Nier, wasn't too excited for it, but got absolutely hooked once I started playing it. Then it became one of my favorite jrpgs of last Gen :)

Dead Space. I played the first one for about one hour and I really did not like.

Then I played Dead Space 2. This game is one of my favorite from last gen. I went back to Dead Space 1 and I managed to enjoy it too.

Mighty No. 9. Got excited for fans when it was announced (wasn't a MM fan at the time), that dimmed when it started becoming a shitshow, I played a demo last year and just had an uneasy feeling about the whole thing.

No, but seriously speaking, Mario 1, USA, and 3. I couldn't get into 1 until I played Lost Levels and realized just how bad Mario 1 COULD have been under a worse developer; I couldn't appreciate USA until I really got into it, and I couldn't appreciate 3 personally until I really had a respect for 1. I saw what other people liked about them but I simply couldn't get into them myself. TL;DR Lost Levels is the most important Mario game because it's so bad.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

The Metal Gear series. I thought they'd just be meh military games but they have my favorite videogame plotline. Shame we'll never see the puzzle fully completed:/

What's left to see from the puzzle?

fire emblem awakening, I tried many fe games but never got into it. but awakening did it for me and after that I replayed some older titles even games like xcom interests me now.

but there are aswell bad examples. e.g. I played the first 2 episodes of life is strange and walking dead and just can't play them without yawning and falling asleep.

the same for musou games I played the one piece game and hyrule warriors, completed the main story for both games but I just can't get into it.
