Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Reggie thinks Wii U will have a strong Holiday performance, says they have games coming to the system.

The only game that would help them have a strong holiday 2016 for Wii U, is for Zelda: BOTW to be coming out for it this year. THAT would sell. And that is what they should do. If they still want to port it to NX? Whatever. But it should have been THE last big holiday title for Wii U, by every line of thinking that makes rational sense.

To be fair, the Wii U had 5 to 6 retail games release this month alone.
Minecraft
Unwritten tales 2
terraria
Tokyo Japanese rpg game
Mario and Sonic
that mega man type game
star wars Lego

They all release this month.

Not too bad for Wii U standards, May have even missed one.

Yeah, Wii U had a good month. PS3 actually did ok in June as well.

PS3 (June 2016):
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Bundle (June 1)
Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator (June 7)

Minecraft: Story Mode Episode 6: A Portal to Mystery (June 7)
Odin Sphere Leifthrasir (June 7)
XBlaze Lost: Memories (June 21)
Mighty No 9 (June 24)
LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens (June 28)

It makes a lot more sense to have it as a simultaneous release and kickstart a new console that has a shot at selling more than 15 million lifetime and thus becoming an actual factor on the market, rather than waste time exclusivity on the least successful console in modern time and greatly lessen the impact it might have on a debut platform after the holidays. They gave up on the Wii U, and rightly so, people should do what they did and move on. Not a single, sane and/or experienced investor or board member would approve of the idea of wasting energy, money and expensive PR on a ship sinking quickly, there would be nothing rational about that decision as it could potentially harm the NX instead and provide a slight boost for the Wii U at best; dead is dead even of you cake on some make-up on the corpse.

They need to think ahead, not remain in the current struggle, a few angry fans shouldn't stop them from trying to stake out an actual market and a chance at huge earnings again. Their current decisions make a lot of rational sense; sticking with the Wii U for any longer, or even giving it any sort of proper attention, could prove fatal to the entire company, that's how badly injured they were by this device.

I don't understand how anyone can still be against all this when it's the only choice they have and the only way they can get back on track, it's as if their fans don't care about whether or not the company survives as long as they get that one or those few titles they want on that specific platform they want it on. Any Nintendo fan should be celebrating the fact that Nintendo finally woke up and did something in the face of mounting troubles, and then proceed to put the woeful 8th gen behind them as soon as possible.

If only that would be true. :/

They should have moved on from Wii U AFTER releasing Zelda. Not releasing an exclusive Zelda on the system is unforgivable. And let's face it, if Nintendo goes third-party, it's the fans and Nintendo's employees who will care, not people in general and definitely not Nintendo's executives who will swim in cash regardless of what happens at the company.

Oh boy, I can't wait to finally play Super Mario 1337 on my Wii U!

In all seriousness though, I get this is supposed to be PR stuff and all, but they shouldn't be wasting our time by saying things that are blatantly false.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Thank you Reggie. I wouldn't expect you to say anything else.
