DevilRising said: The only game that would help them have a strong holiday 2016 for Wii U, is for Zelda: BOTW to be coming out for it this year. THAT would sell. And that is what they should do. If they still want to port it to NX? Whatever. But it should have been THE last big holiday title for Wii U, by every line of thinking that makes rational sense. |
It makes a lot more sense to have it as a simultaneous release and kickstart a new console that has a shot at selling more than 15 million lifetime and thus becoming an actual factor on the market, rather than waste time exclusivity on the least successful console in modern time and greatly lessen the impact it might have on a debut platform after the holidays. They gave up on the Wii U, and rightly so, people should do what they did and move on. Not a single, sane and/or experienced investor or board member would approve of the idea of wasting energy, money and expensive PR on a ship sinking quickly, there would be nothing rational about that decision as it could potentially harm the NX instead and provide a slight boost for the Wii U at best; dead is dead even of you cake on some make-up on the corpse.
They need to think ahead, not remain in the current struggle, a few angry fans shouldn't stop them from trying to stake out an actual market and a chance at huge earnings again. Their current decisions make a lot of rational sense; sticking with the Wii U for any longer, or even giving it any sort of proper attention, could prove fatal to the entire company, that's how badly injured they were by this device.
I don't understand how anyone can still be against all this when it's the only choice they have and the only way they can get back on track, it's as if their fans don't care about whether or not the company survives as long as they get that one or those few titles they want on that specific platform they want it on. Any Nintendo fan should be celebrating the fact that Nintendo finally woke up and did something in the face of mounting troubles, and then proceed to put the woeful 8th gen behind them as soon as possible.
