Forums - Gaming Discussion - Monolith Soft Kyoto is expanding ?!

I really hope this signals Nintendo starting to expand its studios. Retro and Monolith are two of the best studios on the planet - with more personnel perhaps Retro could turn out a game every two years, and Monolith every three years. That increased productivity, combined with shared resources between console and handheld, could produce a steady supply of games for Nintendo in the ninth gen.

Agreed. This last generation really did a toll on Nintendo when it comes to making enough big games, because they just can't do that with around 5000 employees and no third party support.

Around the Network

Definitely excited for whatever project Monolith Soft is cooking up.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Always good to see Nintendo expanding its first party studios.

As others have already pointed out, they really suffered this generation from not having the manpower to deliver a consistent and timely stream of first party content.

can't wait to see what they can do with better hardware!

I remember thinking that after playing the original Xenoblade back in 2012; fantasizing about what they could achieve on Wii U after squeezing such a gargantuan game out the ageing Wii. With XCX they managed to blow me away all over again.
