I started wacthing it last year and it's becoming more and more epic! It has some improvements from previous seasons.

-Ash is not 10 anymore (he's confirmed to be 16 year old)

-He probably has his best team ever, every mon he has is fully evolved.

-He sort of has a love interest now, Serena (one of the playable characters in the XY games)

-Storytelling is more mature now, not that extremely childish it was in BW.

-He has a Zygarde on his group, A FREAKING LEGENDARY

-He is confirmed to reach the finals in the Kalos League THAT STARTS NEXT WEEK!

Where was Ash confirmed to be 16? I can't find it anywhere.

Don't think it is confirmed, but he is getting taller from previous series. It is one of those it adds up to 16. XY sort of hints at him being older constantly.
