Forums - General Discussion - Opinion: <---- This needs to stop.

But when people don't explicitly say "opinion" then everyone gets on their case about how they're jerks for stating it like it's a fact instead of their opinion.

No it should stay because people on this site and the internet in general never word opinions correctly, as slarvax said.

Threads titled "X is a bad game" when it should be titled "I think X is a bad game" or "Opinion - X is a bad game."

But isn't it obvious that it's just their opinion? We don't really need them to clarify that.

To most poeple it is obvious but sometimes it amazes me how many poeple come into a thread to only post "That's just your opinion" on a OP that is obviously an opinion whether it's just a way for them to troll or they actually believe your obvious opinion is a fact how ever I not sure.

Opinions are facts for the person stating them.

I thought when people have an opinion based on a game they would post it in either those Nintendo,MS or Playstation official threads or those official game threads. But I guess they want their opinion to show it to everyone not just in those threads. Which is fine. I don't think it breaks any rules.

You are likely to get banned if you go into a game thread and starting bashing that game.  It is best to make a shit talking thread which at worst case scenario gets locked unless you are some crazy repeat offender.

I'll think of a controversial thread and use Fact in the tittle. Lets see how that goes.
But using Opinion in a tittle isn't really something that should be stopped. Ive used it twice, for a NX thread, and a RPG thread.

The trend recently seems to be threads that are actually some kind of passive aggressive attack against another fanbase. It's getting kind of annoying.

Well said. At this point I'd welcome overt aggression. At least it would give opponents something to hold on to.

All this passive-aggressive garbage is so easy to hide behind, because one can claim ignorance. You try to wrap your hands around it and it evaporates into thin air.

Yeah, it just leads to a domino effect.

Reminds me of a story I once read by someone who moved to Japan.  They said stressed out salarymen would passive aggressively bump into people on the street, then those people would passive aggressively bump into other people on the street.  That's what this forum is like sometimes.  Someone intentionally bumps into a lot of people, hides behind the "opinion" shield, then some of those people go out looking for revenge by doing the same thing.

Opinion: every opinion except mine sucks

That's actually a perfect analogy.

I was saying this to GNM yesterday: most of the people on this site are well-meaning, accepting people. But there are a few bad apples who stir up trouble with a purposefully provocative post. Provoked, those well-meaning people fire back. Then other normally civil people fire back at them. And then it all goes to hell.

You guys just blew my mind.  I now realize how we are all just pawns in one giant system.  The only chance is if we all break free from the cycle.

Well that's your opinion....or is it?

Luckily I put it right in the title. Because otherwise there's really no way you could tell, I mean, it's not like you can tell by the context of the statement or anything.

Eve4rything that's not clearly labeled as an opinion is automatically either a rumor or a fact. Also rumors not clearly labeled are facts.
