Forums - Gaming Discussion - Bethesda treats console gamers likes second class citizens, dont buy Skyrim Remastered

PC gamers already had the Remaster for years and for free via mods. So they don't have to pay for it because they already own the remaster. It wouldn't make sense to charge for it because nobody would buy it. Console gamers however are getting content they didn't have before. Why wouldn't you have to pay for something that a developer had to put work into?

Do you also want the Neo for free because you already had a PS4 and Neo is just an upgrade?

See? This is why people hate the "masterrace". Console games have firmware updates just as often. Why fuck half your consumers? Witcher 3 had numerous firmware updates, ON CONSOLES, that fixed framerate and graphical issues. Why can't Bethesda do that? Because they think it's okay to fuck over console gamers, because they think less of them.

Because there's no X1/PS4 version already in existence to update....

First, because there is no exsisting Skyrim version at all on XBoxOne or PS4.

And second, by giving it for free to those who already own Skyrim with DLC on PC, Bethesda wants to show respect for the whole PC community, that it has supported Elder Scrolls for decades, and especially thank the guys who make and enjoy mods.

they could give it for free to all these xbox live and psn users who downloaded all the stuff too. How is it fair? Whats the meassurement here which community supported bethesda more? last game Fallout 4 sold massivlay more on PS4 and Xbox One,

I see what's Slimebeast is saying.  It's one thing to offer a remaster of a game on the same console.  It's another to offer it free on another console.  Bethesda is pretty much creating a new game when it's going from one gen to the next, the hardware is pretty much entirely diferent unlike the PC.  I'm not justifying the $60 cost for a remaster, but I do see that there are more costs involved going from one platform to another as opposed to tweaking it from hardware to similar hardware.   It is what it is, and it make a lot of sense to me.

Console gamers are too spoiled.

PC gamers have been shat on by gaming comapnies for ages now, but when a historically PC gaming company does this one little things then it's time to whine?

Boo hoo.

I LOVE ICELAND!

No remaster so far was 60$ except Tomb Raider which was still a brand new game but Skyrim is 5 years old.

Look at Capcom offering Resident Evil 6 and soon 5 for 20$, or Resi 1&0 for 40$. It isnt the industry standard what Bethesda is doing.

Bethesda should be ashamed of themselfs, this is even worse than Call of Duty Mordern Warfare Remastered which cost 20$ more but you get a brand new game along the remaster.

Console gamers can burrow games too?

The Resident Evil games are so cheap because nobody would buy them otherwise. Don't compare something where the dev is "hopefully we sell some units  with such a low price" with a company confident in their product.

And Modern Warfare is mainly made to increase sales of the new game to please investors with "first week sales are so awesome" PR.

If Capcom would believe to sell a good amount at $60 then it would be probably $60. And even if not, why does this bother you so much? Just don't buy it and be happy. If console owners will  buy it for the high price Bethesda has done everything right since making money is why they are doing it obviously. If console gamers won't buy it then the price will decrease very fast.

So once again, complain about console gamers if they will buy it for this price and not about the company asking for it because they think people will pay it. That has nothing to do with threating someone as second class citizen.

nope

numbers for the EU PS Store

Fallout 4 - 4568 Ratings

Resident Evil 6 - 4507 Ratings

the same ammount of people downloaded Resident Evil 6 like Fallout 4

Just because Bethesda might get away with doesnt mean its right, thats why this thread exist to make people more aware and point this out. I see no one critiszing this remaster on the entire internet. I could also say to PC gamers: ''why are you PC gamers complaing about bad PC ports like Arkham Knight? PC gamers will pirate the game anyway or buy it extremley low with keys from dubious sites, you get what you pay for.''

would this be right? not at all

Because porting a game costs serious amount of money?
PC is just the same version with a patch.

Price will go down soon enough. If you don't want to spend $60, you don't have to. The market dictates the price, not the publisher.

It would cost them nothing to give Digital owners a cross buy licence, and it would give people more trust in downloading their games digitaly and giving them almost 100% in profit.

How is it not possible with digital purchases? MS is able to unlock BC 360 games on your Xbox One if you purchased them previously in the store. Journey for PS4 can be downloaded for free if you puchased it on ps3 digitally, and Siren Bloodcurse is rumored to be offered the same way from Sony.

Why would you or Bethesda want to piss off those who bought the retail version?

because the people who bought it physically really dont care, we love physical things. Just like we didnt care when sony gave digital journey owners a free ps4 version.

And you can always sell your previous copy.

Did you complain when they charged for The Last of Us remastered for the PS4, or any other remaster for that matter? Doesn't matter if they were less than $60. If Skyrim Remastered doesn't sell well, the price will go down fast shortly after release. Thus, there will be balance.

Yeah, I know you wanted to be whiny about something. You could just not buy it.

it does matter that the Last of US was less than 60$, the price of the last of us dropped even faster. Have fun waiting for a price drop of a 60$ game, people will make concessions when it drops at 40 and buy it. But this is  the price the game should have launched.

I am not into Skyrim but why is it excatable that PS4 and Xbox One owners have to pay full 60€/$ for a Remaster? While PC gamers dont have to buy anything, if they have bought the Game of the Year Edition of Skyrim or all the DLC in the vanilla version they will get Skyrim Special Edition for free.

Why cant Bethesda treat console gamers the same way at least the PS360 DIgital owners of the same stuff like PC gamers?

And 60 bucks for a remaster? i think this is a complete ripp off. Its cheaper to import the physical version of Resident Evil 5 Remaster (35€) here from the USA than buying this remaster locally. And 20$ if you live in the US, thats 3 copies of Resident Evil 5 Remastered you can buy for the price Bethesda is charging for. Like WTF Bethesda?

And i dont see any one brining this up in the media?

I don't think that buying RE 5 Remastered three times somehow makes it more enjoyable than buying it once.

But you can buy Resi 4, 5 and 6 for 60 $/€ in a period of months before this Skyrim collection even launches

There is no digital version of Skyrim on the PlayStation store. The ps4 is a different platform to the ps3, pc is the same platform.

I will now list games that if you get on ps3 you don't get on ps4

LittleBigPlanet 3
Shadows of Mordor
Assassins Creed Series
Call of Duty Series
Rayman Legends
Tomb Raider
Darksiders 2
Dead Island
Need for Speed Series
Diablo 3
Every EA Sports Series

Bethesda is not treating console gamers badly, everyone does it. You bought the game on ps3 not ps4. Pc gamers already bought the game for pc, they're not going to have to buy it for PC again, especially considering the definitive edition is almost completely worthless to them. There's nothing wrong here in the slightest.

I'm not going to pay $60 for it. I'll definitely grab it a month or two later, when it's hopefully $30-$35 either new or used.

Obviously you should own the PC version of this game, bethesda games on consoles have always had rediculous loading times, horrible or no mod support and terrible textures.

I love my PS4 but I would not buy this ever, loved skyrim on pc, loved fallout on pc, and guess what, free upgrades to this version for skyrim and VR support for Fallout, so long PS4 bethesda games :P

Thanks to people buying and supporting remasters... we get stuff like this. It's simple kids. Stop buying them, and they'll go away.

Do you think you uncovered some sort of revelation?

Nobody is being forced to buy the Skyrim remaster and its price will eventually go down. For those who haven't played it at all and own a 8th gen console, its arguably worth $60.

Everything goes down, its about the principal here.

The Last of Us Remastered was almost a brand new game, it only came 1 year later and it wasnt full price either. Most people who bought it never played it before. How do you know we will buy this Skyrim remaster, the game isnt out yet?

All remasters Sony released were never priced at 60$, and they usually have more than 1 game in the collection. They are also all exclusives, making these remasters even more valuable to pay Sony again. There are no PC versions

Yeah but Dark Souls 2 was only 50 bucks and it was only 1 year apart from the last gen release. Skyrim is 60 bucks for a 5 years old game. Also i defeniatley remember that the pc version wasnt for free, maybe its now but not at launch

Principal? It has signfiicant new features, greatly improved visuals, DLC, and flatout offers more value than most games. Its hard to argue that isn't worth $60 for many, but if it isn't for you then don't buy it.

You're arbitrarily deciding when remasters are okay. The Last of Us on PS4 felt less necessary than the Skyrim remaster, an older game people may have missed last gen. If people want to play it again with the new features and taking advantage of their superior console, well its their money.

The Last of Us remaster was going to be $60, but they dropped it $10 after MCC was announced for $50. The Uncharted Collection was $60 however even though it removed multiplayer.

Sony remasters are more valuable because they are exclusive? That's what we call an opinion. PC options surprisingly have little impact on the value of games. Which is why CoD can generally maintain a high price.
