Forums - Gaming Discussion - Bethesda treats console gamers likes second class citizens, dont buy Skyrim Remastered

I found the answers quite funny... so instead of agreeing the pratice is abusive and supporting the claim you guys preffer to say other companies do this same bad practices and justify it? Crazy thing.

Or many others have pointed out its not abusive at all :)

I agree with the OP, no real reason to charge $60 for this 'remaster'.

Now, if they had done this with Morrowind? Absolutely!

Skyrim is just too new and this update doesn't really add much imo.

Tbh the treatment of PS3 owners was diabolical with a version that ran like a sedated horse.

The Xbox One is BC compatible and guess what Bethesda didnt care to make the 360 version BC in the programm unlike with Fallout 3, and we know why now. Stop defending bad bussines practices just because it isnt effecting your platform.

You never answered my Questions you just tried side stepping them so here ill add another question for you.

4. Does a game running in BC mode run natively on the XB1?.

5. Does Sony give you their Remaster's for free? (And lets face it they dont even have half the work thats gone into this remake done to them).

First off emulation is not the same as the game running Natively.

Currently no version of Skyrim is on PS4 or XB1, and for you to use BC as an excuse for why you should have this game free is both silly and and even more silly.

Second of all Sony charges you again for simply porting the same game from PS3 and "Upscaling" it with little to no extra work done on it.

Sony Charges you to "Rebuy" your already owned PS2 games. MS gives you their BC games for "FREE" if you already own the original.

So why is it ok for sony to do this? something you have defended many times when they should be giving you the game for free if you already own it.

They are charging for a select amount of PS2 games because they have a higher resolution and framerate as well as trophy support. Thats not comparable with Microsofts BC for 360 games who run like regular 360 games on Xbox One.

Yeah Sony is doing all this stuff but guess what? It was all cheaper than this Skyrim remaster, there was not a single Sony remaster for 60€. And like i said sometimes they gave you the remaster for free as previous ownesr like with Journey or they gave you 3 games like with the Uncharted collection etc.

You are sidestepping here, MS is doing the BC programm for free if Devolopers aprouch them. Bethesda could have asked them to make Skyrim BC on XBox One

No. They are many others who are willing to overlook the abusive behavior of Bethesda.

PS2 games cost money on PS4 because there is no way for Sony to know if your PS2 disc is original or pirated. Many people have pirated versions of PS2 games on disc.

Bethesda didn't put as much effort as you give them credit for. They could have simply ported PC assets and some existing mod assets on PC to the consoles. But it costs $60 and not $40 or $50 like single remasters of PS3 games on PS4 do.

Also Bethesda should give PS3 owners a free version of this considering how unplayable it was, shouldn't have been released on PS3 with that framerate which often dropped to 0fps, completely unplayable.

No your side stepping the clear issues you have with this and defending Sony doing worse.

I knew you where going to use the "Sony charges less" comeback, and i even had an original response for that writing out to you in that quoted post.

However i decided to leave it out just so you could have the chance to show how "Pro" Sony you are, they can do no wrong am i right? .

Sony does charge for Simply upscaling their PS2 games, something any emu can do by default so this isnt any extra work on Sony's part.

And if you think adding in trophy support is worth €20 even if you already own the original game and when Sony could of just as easy allowed you to use your own disc, i just dont know what to say to this.

You are willing to defend Sony charging again for adding just trophys, Give them a pat on the back for giving you "ONE" free game if you already owned it on PSN, and charging you $50 for Upscaling 3 Uncharted games when all 3 could be got on the PS3 for less then €30 etc.

And this would be all ok...

But then you complain that your being charged for a game by a "Non" Sony dev, that has put much much more work into this game then every "Sony" Remaster released so far.

And i know for a fact that if this was a Sony Remaster that had this much stuff added to it you, or no other PS4 fan would be complaining about paying 60 for it.

But yet when its not Sony its a problem.

You completly ignore the reasons for why PC users are getting it for free "IF" they own all the DLC+the base game.

You ignore the points people are putting to you for why this is.

(Already being on PC, the exact same system the remaster is launching on, already looking better then this remaster on PC thanks to mods. etc)

You add in "But but Sony does this cheaper" well failing to understand its costing sony almost nothing for their remasters since lets face it, the isnt really anything new added to them including new graphics other then a simple upscale.

Your pretty much defending sony for doing worse, in the same thread your trying to make a point for why this is bad.

and this here is where your problem comes from and why this whole thread is pointless.

Your not going to listen to anyone, your going to keep defending sony doing the same thing and even worse imo.

Like i said your point of view on "Why this is bad" would be ok and understandable even if you wasnt so "Pro" Sony doing this.

You cant take a stance against one side and defend the same practices on the other.

While I don't agree with Ruler in any way. Your comment about Sony remasters costing barely a thing comes off as a bit ignorant about the work that needs to be done to port a game from a PowerPC architecture that used CELL and the PS4 x86 one. It's not a matter of transfering the code from one to the other as is. A lot of work has to be put into them to make them run correctly without bugs. In the case of TLOU, quite a bit of work has been put into the game to make it look better and run better.

Personally, I don't see anything bad in making remasters and charging for them. It depends on the content included and improvements that went into the new version for the asking price. TLOU was fairly priced for a game that was barely a year old that won a record breaking amount of awards. It wasn't a simple port like the PS2 ones you find on PSN.

As most of the replies in this thread state, there is no abuse going on.

The only reason people bring up Sony is the OP. They guessed there would be a double standard and they guessed right. Sheds a light on how silly the whole premise of the thread is.

I can see why people are pissed at Bethesda for stuff like this remaster and their famous bugs and glitches. The thing is that theres no alternative to their games. If there was then maybe people wouldn't be so forgiving.
