I'm a bit pissed off with Valve/Steam right now.

The sale ends tomorrow, and I have a couple of extra cards from the Steam Summer Sale that I can't do anything with. Trades take 24h to complete, so that's a no-go as the cards will vanish before the trade is completed. And it turns out that I can't sell them either because to do so, I have to give them my cell phone number to activate the Steam Guard thingy, or else the items will be held in custody for something like two weeks.

When did that happen?!

Oh, and to be clear, I'm not giving Valve/Steam my cell phone number.

I think it's to get rid of all the bots that plagued the market previously, and it seems to have been relatively effective at doing so (judging from the volume on commonly traded cards like the L4D cards.)

I think it's to minimize the damage from the thiefs that hack user's inventaries to stole their items and then sell them.

But, why is a simple email confirmation enough for trades, but not for selling items? Just because they can get money from it?

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

Hmm good point. Anyway, I've given my phone number for dual confirmation.

Pretty sure you dont need to put your mobile number on your settings.

You just need the mobile app to confirm the transactions - at least from what I went through.

Anyways.......

Here's my purchases for Steam Summer Sale 2016.......not as much as the previous 3 years but hey, its whatever.

-Saints Row Gat Out Of Hell
-Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 3 V Generation (and its DLC as well)
-WWE 2k16
-Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag Gold Edition

Total cost: $40

Only bought Danganronpa and Dark Souls III, so spent about $65 in total.

(and to a certain polar bear, no I'm not buying that soccer game with rockets that takes place in a league.)

Who is this polar bear who's been bothering you?

I've been playing that soccer game with rockets for a week, and I must say is surprisingly fun. Also, I've bought Shadows of Mordor and Tales of Symphonia.

Won't Steam send a message to my phone to confirm the account movements? And won't the app retrieve some data from my phone to "work" properly?

I don't want Valve in my phone, thanks.

I have given my cell phone number and used it for the obglitatory verification in the past to sell my cards, but my phone is down so cant sell anything.

Should we convert them to diamonds?

Since last time I bought
Assassin's Creed: Rogue (12ish Euro)
Oxenfree (10 Euro)
Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition (8 euro?)

Thinking of getting Life is Strange and a couple of 4x space strategy games before the sale ends.

I really want Talo's Principle, Everybody gone to Rapture, Thea: The Awakening and Wolfenstein Old Blood, but I doubt I will have time to play them before the next sale.
