I think it's to minimize the damage from the thiefs that hack user's inventaries to stole their items and then sell them.

But, why is a simple email confirmation enough for trades, but not for selling items? Just because they can get money from it?

Pretty sure you dont need to put your mobile number on your settings.

You just need the mobile app to confirm the transactions - at least from what I went through.

Won't Steam send a message to my phone to confirm the account movements? And won't the app retrieve some data from my phone to "work" properly?

I don't want Valve in my phone, thanks.

I'm a bit pissed off with Valve/Steam right now.

The sale ends tomorrow, and I have a couple of extra cards from the Steam Summer Sale that I can't do anything with. Trades take 24h to complete, so that's a no-go as the cards will vanish before the trade is completed. And it turns out that I can't sell them either because to do so, I have to give them my cell phone number to activate the Steam Guard thingy, or else the items will be held in custody for something like two weeks.

When did that happen?!

Oh, and to be clear, I'm not giving Valve/Steam my cell phone number.

I have given my cell phone number and used it for the obglitatory verification in the past to sell my cards, but my phone is down so cant sell anything.

Should we convert them to diamonds?

Since last time I bought
Assassin's Creed: Rogue (12ish Euro)
Oxenfree (10 Euro)
Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition (8 euro?)

Thinking of getting Life is Strange and a couple of 4x space strategy games before the sale ends.

I really want Talo's Principle, Everybody gone to Rapture, Thea: The Awakening and Wolfenstein Old Blood, but I doubt I will have time to play them before the next sale.

Sorry to hear that.

And that's what I'll do, to be honest. At least I'll get something from those cards.

Messages? You mean notifications or text messages? Cause I only received notifications and you can turn them of easily by going into your phone's settings.

I dont see where or when the Steam app tried to retrieve data other than having a cellular/online connection just like using a browser. Checked to make sure and dont see any access to camera, etc.

Anyways - nice collection of games!

Notifications.

But don't waste your time, I'm a very suspicious guy, and I use very few apps on my phone. You won't convince me to use their app.

And thanks!

WOW

First sale since 2012 I didn't participate. GTA V still not under $20 and was really hoping 50% off on Dragons Dogma. Well waiting on the Winter sale then.

But I spent all the monies on retro games lol, and my WiiU/PS3/4 JRPG backlog is huge. Have to beat Ninokuni, Tokyo Mirage Sessions, Trails of Cold Steel, Dragon Quest Heroes, Toukiden, Star Ocean 5 and FFXIV Heavensward before the heavy hitters start coming out.

Incredibly I managed to get money on my credit card so I bought all of the games I needed:

-Undertale 6,99€
-Hyper Light Drifter 15,99€
-Child of Light 3,74€

I've played a few hours Child of Light and I find it really good, but when I stopped and started playing Undertale I simply couldn't stop...
