I got Skylanders swap force on my Wii U for £10 plus a bunch of figures for £1 each. Im genuinely surprised at the quality of it. The game is quite polished and fun, and when other Skylanders games hit bargain basement prices I will pounce.

It might be but I see it as a big money pit.

After four years of Skylanders games I had a huge collection of the little monsters. I waited until Game Stop had extra 50% trade in credit and traded them in. This is no joke, I got $350 in store credit. I got a lot of games out of that money.

I mainly play Lego Dimensions now and some Disney Infinity on the side.

How much money did you lose on trade?

I bought LEGO Dimensions because I'm a Doctor Who fan. So that means I'm a hardcore Doctor Who fan.

Having all twelve doctor's in one mini figure is the bomb. I keep mine on Tom Baker. That's the doctor I grew up with.

The Dalek mini figure is also one of my favorites, even if it's a vehicle.

Hey! They got SONY on my amiibo! Wait a minute. Two great gaming tastes that game great together!

These games knickle and dime the poor kids and their parents. It's so cynical to combine a video game with expensive figurines that becomes worthless in a couple of years when the kids has grown tired of them.

We should not speak highly of this category of games.

That's why the amiibo, Disney and Lego ones are better than Skylanders because the characters are well known and more collectible.

Skylanders invent new characters every year and then toss them aside when next year's game comes out.

I was really hoping Lego Dimensions was going to announce a Star Wars Fun Pack or Level Pack. Like this....

That's for babies. Hardcore is buying McDonald's kids meals and scanning the toys in to get games.

Powerpuff Girls is coming to Lego Dimensions this year. Not sure if it will be a Fun Pack or a Level Pack though.

That is exactly how I played all the Skylanders games. I waited to pick up the first game, Spyro's Adventure until Giants came out and stayed one year behind on all the games. Just before the current years game would come out all of last year's characters would drop to bargain basement prices. Saved me a ton of money.

I do the same for Call of Duty. I'm always 1 year behind, but pay £10 or less each time. When everybody is playing the new COD, I will be on Black ops 3 lol. On topic of toys to life, I bought my 6 year old daughter Animal Crossing Amiibo festival quite cheap, and I will make myself unpopular with this but it is quite fun. There is a lot more to it than I anticipated, and its nice to have something for my daughter and I to play together.

Yes, Nintendo games always have a certain charm to them and more depth than people give them credit for. You just have to play them for a while to find it.
