your post is filled with so many inaccuracies its making me doubt you are even serious.

- violence in modern games.. so what? here is my rebuttal, so what? and lets be clear, not all modern games, heck a lot of them have no violence, and the some that do, whats wrong with that? why would it make me want to "go back to nintendo".

- so more games in a specific genre is bad? if you would actually pay attention to the amount of games releasing on xbox, PS and PC you would realize the variety is massive, and there are tons of all sorts of genre's, much more than on Nintendo systems.

- you have no idea what you are talking about if you think "cinematic" experiences are taking away gameplay from gamers. simply no idea.

- i grew up with SNES and N64 true, but the games Nintendo make today dont interest me one bit. i play games i want to play today, not games i wanted to play 20 years ago

- the only reason i would bother with a nintendo system (if they keep going down the route they are now) is if any future son/daughter wants one. doesnt mean i will actually be interested in the thing though.

- id lose interest in gaming if i was playing nintendo games, not the other way around buddy.

My opinion is that Nintendo doesnt make that great of games anymore. they cant match the talent found at the top class developers like Naughty Dog or Rockstar. in my opinion Nintendo are becoming the definition of overrated. and i dont see myself ever going back to them after the direction iwata, myamoto and riggie had dragged them through.

a fair point of view. Though i can agree with the OP when he mentions too cinematic experiences and i felt the exact same way actually. Its just too movie. Nintendo feels more arcade:ish. And that in itself feels also nostalgic. BUt they dont always do that.

Their mentality of taking risks, and being unique and doing something new is not respected or appreciated by some people. For me however i appreciate it very much even though the results may not always be so good

Its not respected or appreciated because a good amount of time the changes dont work or is worse than what is already established. A lot of the times it feels like they are being different just to be different.

Its what needs to be done. You need to be different and you should try to be aswell. But making those different decisions are risky but they pay off when you know it doesnt work. But you shouldnt blindly step into it either.

I agree. I wonder if they get consumers to try out the new ideas or if they just do it and say "we want this so you must too"

sure, but being different just to be different doesnt benefit anyone. Especially when your version is worse than what others are doing (looking at you friend codes)

Well . being different for the sake of being different can work, if they are smart about it. It does benefit people. XBOX and PS4 and PC have very similiar AAA titles. Ofc indie helps, but they dont always are that big. Some things ofc the other companies do is also unique, but the core imo is the same, and has been the same for a long time. While Nintendo can have completely different approaches each gen. Ofc there are risks too that, but now they know what they did wrong with the Wii U (hopefully)

Mario & Zelda.... when Nintendo chooses to make good versions of both in a gen, things are as they should be.

The problem is we didnt get a "mario64 / galaxy" mario or a new Zelda game.

^ this is why the Wii U failed..... That and the gamepad limiting price options.

^Truth

That's why Zelda BotW is so refreshing to watch (and play), it's like a breath of fresh air in the jungle of super realistic and violent games.

and N64 and Cube, friend codes, wiispeak, etc. Lets not let Wiimote cloud our judgement. being different for the sake of being different usually ends in with something not good.
