My first ever Nintendo console was a wii, I will never be buying one again for myself....nintendo games are just not for me.

My son got a wiiu and will get the nx. so at least they get a sale from my family.

I've owned every nintendo console, up until Wii U. It's the first Nintendo console that made me not want to own it, as i didn't want to game with what was pretty much a tablet. I understand that i could've bought other controllers, but if they seem to think their games were meant to be played with a tablet, i just skipped owning it. Here's to hoping the NX will suck me back into Nintendoland. I do have a "NEW" 3DS XL, but i rarely play it. Pretty much only when the power goes out, or sitting in the waiting room at the hospital or something like that.

No matter what your choice of platform is whether its a Xbox, PlayStation or a PC at some point you will end up grabbing a Nintendo console or handheld or you have already done so over the last couple of gens.

At some point you will get burnt out or just need a change of gaming for a number of reasons like

  • The violence levels in modern games - When you look at the general scene especially in the AAA market of gaming the large majority of games are based on excessive blood/gore whether thats cutting poeple to bits, blowing heads off, gunning down everything you see, heck chainsawing someone for the first time on gears was great but now at times the violence levels in games can become more tiresome than anything else.
  • The amount of shooters releasing, Pretty much seems like every other game these days are shooters of some sort hey?

Or they just play some great games of other genres with no excessive blood/gore on the platform of their choice, if they want some change of gaming

Just to name a few: FIFA & other sport games, MineCraft, Shovel Knight, Ori and the Blind Forest, Rayman Legends, The Talos Principle, The Witness, DiRT Rally, Project Cars, Forza / Horizon, Rocket League, Mirror's Edge Catalyst, Day of the Tentacle Remastered, Broken Age, Deponia Doomsday, The Book of Unwritten Tales, Sherlock Holmes, Shardlight, Tearaway Unfolded, Life is Strange, Steins;Gate, Civilization V, LittleBigPlanet 3, Unravel, King's Quest, Child of Light, Dreamfall Chapters, Pillars of Eternity, City Skylines, XCOM, soon Yooka-Laylee...

Nope. I can't see myself ever being motivated to buy a Nintendo kit if they carry on making the style of games they have been and are making. If Sony stops making Uncharted, inFamous, TLOU, Ratchet and Clank style games, and if 3rd parties stop supporting Playstation with Mass Effect, Dragon Age, The Witcher, Tomb Raider, Tell Tale and great indie games. And Nintendo starts doing all those things, then maybe I'll get a Nintendo machine.

I disagree.

Your main points with the violence/gore/cinematic experience are the reasons that I don't game on Nintendo. It's very childish to me with only a few good AAA games that look interesting.

The nostalgia factor doesn't appeal to me because, as with all people, we have grown up since those SNES/N64 days. Our tastes have changed. We like different adult games now.

Shooters have been drying up for a while and honestly I don't play them much. But the innovation is continuing and trending upward with games like DOOM coming back, Battlefield 1 in a brand new setting, and Uncharted 4 raising the bar.

Honestly I just don't understand why Nintendo fans are like this. Just play the games you like. Stop trying to convince people that Nintendo is the best or Nintendo has the most to offer. To most people, they don't. And that's not opinion that's fact. You can look at sales and reviews for that.

Seriously. Play the games or consoles you want. Don't tell me what to play.

Currently own:

  • Ps4

Currently playing: Witcher 3, Walking Dead S1/2, GTA5, Dying Light, Tomb Raider Remaster, MGS Ground Zeros

I kinda know what you mean. After a while, I get sick of playing mature games, and need to play some Mario.

Not really.
I've been going back and forth between playstation systems and pc forever.
I've never owned a Nintendo console and I don't plan to.

I get what you're saying but I've always enjoyed mature and violent games.I have no interest in mario like games.

Pointless thread, OP is just pushing his own opinion

Eh, I don't know.

Maybe if you're an older millennial, and you GREW UP ON NINTENDO, but I think a lot of newer gamers have already tuned out.

I speak from experience. I am 32. I grew up on Mario and Zelda and Metroid...but a lot of kids nowadays AREN'T growing up with them. They're growing up with Dark Souls, CoD, Minecraft, MOBAs and diverse indie titles, amongst other things.
