but you can't get youtube hits like that!

Well, my bad for thinking he wanted to help childs not be attacked and not seeing that he wanted fame.

Well, right off the bat, none of what I'm about to say excuses the guy who was reported.

With that said, making a channel off of reporting crime is a terrible idea on so many fronts. A mis-report or even a correct report can easily lead to being sued (as happened here), it can make you a target for criminals, and it can also ruin a person's reputation if they happen to be found not guilty later on. Really should have reported to the police beforehand; maybe, MAYBE intervene (in a different type of situation where there is a real potential victim) if you feel the situation is getting out of hand before the police have arrived, but social media watchdog-ing seems like a poor decision all around.

fix the title please and have this moved from gaming discussion by a moderator.

As for the topic that is a youtube personality who is making a living for himself by defamation of others? I mean... he is breaking the law in many ways, with or without a lawyer he is going to be in trouble, I personally would rather that the youtube star gets in the proper amount of trouble for this because the thought that people should start using the platform for vigilantism is going to lead to someone getting killed while trying to be Pheonix Wright, this isn't a video game, there are real consequences to what he was doing there and he could have gotten really hurt in doing it.

Why are you making demands at me? Gaming disscussion is the default thread and its not exactly easy to spot since its not mandatory. I don't know any mods that are online right now. Also, I agree very much with everything else you have said, but its his choice to do it, he's not breaking any laws and its for a benifet of potential victims out there. Would you stop someone from helping an old lady stuck on a busy street just because they might get hurt? I have no sympathy for the either off them but the fact that the would be sex offender gets to sue the man for trying to do the moral thing. He also stated that he had stopped doing this after advice from the police about his safety. Whatever way you wanna slice this, the man deserves to get funded and Its nice to see that there are people out there willing to help.

Invasion of privacity and exposition is very much a crime, as much as doing justice with your own hands... about the mods not online, you can report your own thread and ask to change it, the mod online will see it.

They're both wrong, but the guy trying to expose the "Pedo" is even worse. No one is asking random dudes to play "I'm a justice warrior" and take action by themselves. There's better ways to get involved and spread awareness of an issue you're sensitive to.

Reminds me of those people who bait "offenders" into becoming one.. By giving them exactly what you're trying to stop. Same goes for the "undercover" people/public servers who do the same thing to prostitutes, homosexuals, etc.

You catfish someone pretending to be a girl just to ruin their lives..? Let life itself take care of it, it sure will.

I can understand why he's being sued. You can't carelessly just accuse anyone of being a pedo because just the accusation will likely ruin a person's life innocent or guilty. It's not really an issue if the accused is guilty but if he's innocent.... I don't know how this kid "baits" people into his trap but none of it can be used in court. There's a reason why cops investigate possible criminals and crimes and not wannabe batmen.

I agree with a lot that's been said here. This guy isn't out to help children. He's out to get clicks and hits and fame. Already, entrapment is illegal. You can't pretend to be someone and initiate conversation trying to get someone to propose something that would be illegal (like having sex, etc.).

Secondly, everyone is entitled to have a defense, and the law still applies the rule "innocent until proven guilty". While a person has not yet been sentenced for a crime (and even if/after they are), you can't start slandering people by giving out their info and putting it everywhere online, claiming that that person is a pedophile or whatever. It's not up to people to play justice warriors, but the law.

I don't know much more than what's been presented here. Maybe the guy suffers from Hero syndrome. Maybe he's an egomaniac. Or maybe he truly believes what he's doing is "right". Whatever it is, he needs to stop. I think he needs to lose the lawsuit in order for him to stop, so I certainly won't be contributing to his defense. I've already read so many stories of waiters going online to publicly shame customers who didn't leave what they consider to be an appropriate tip.

Public shaming of people you consider have done wrong needs to stop.

YouTube pedo hunter is a video game?

(Gaming discussion)

I think what he did by reporting is a good thing. However, what I find weird is him pretending to be a girl to hunt these individuals with sex. Like does he go patrolling the chatrooms for hours and hours as a little girl?

It's like cops trying to sell you weed outside a nightclub just to bust you if you give in. (I see those cops there at Taj Lounge all the time posing as a weedman, pot head, stoners, 420ers, dope faced, weedlings..etc etc)

AnxietyWar makes ZERO dollars from both his Youtube Channel/videos as well as from his own personal website. he has ZERO monetization from it. he has been offered money from fans in the past as well as offered potential TV show opportunities from Hollywood but, again, has declined because fundamentally he does not do what he does as a career or as some sort of thing to help himself but rather to help spread the word about victims and how serious of an issue online predators are

while I do not necessarily agree entirely on all of his points (particularly whether a 15/16 year old is capable to make their own minds up about sex), I think its safe to say there is an online predator problem in this world and its very likely that a lot of victims are too afraid to speak up.

Also can't stand for misrepresentation of him or the concept that his objective is to get popular or views from exposing these people.

you'd be right about Youtube prank channels or some of the fake charity videos you see, but in his case, again, there is ZERO monetization from any of his actions and privately speaking AnxietyWar has also declined offerings of money and support from both fans and Hollywood
