I can't imagine NX fails...

Even if you are primarily a mutliplayer gamer Nintendo games generally don't feature voice of even text chat, even if they implemented such a feature in the future it would no doubt be optional. How would you have to "deal" with these people just to continue playing the games you know and love. I don't even have to deal with these people when I'm playing Rocket League or CoD.

And when it comes to singleplayer games, this has absolutely no effect at all. Not buying Zelda because it's on a ps4 just because somehwere else in the world "dude-bro's" are using a ps4 to play Fifa online is a very strange thing.

I've already said my piece on it. If you don't understand it then you won't understand it. But if you're a Nintendo fan, then you will probably understand. If you've been on Miiverse then you'd understand. There's a lot of joy when you are a part of a community that likes the games you like. And all of that disappears when Nintendo goes 3rd party.

So you will only play Nintendo games if you can go on miiverse. That's interesting considering before the WiiU no nintendo console had anything like it, there are plenty of community websites for Nintendo fans too. If the NX had no social features you would still buy it. You'd never play a Nintendo game again if they took away miiverse, got ya! Seems to me more like you're just exaggerating because you really don't like the idea of Nintendo being third party, when in reality it has almost no affect on you other than the box you have to buy.

If Nintendo shut down Miiverse, would you not buy Zelda Breath of the Wild? You'd buy it and enjoy it still. Just as you'd buy Nintendo games on other systems and enjoy them still, if the games themselves aren't as important as 'miiverse' when there are many alternatives online I don't know what to say.

It's hardly exclusive to Nintendo and its fans. Remember all the venom Sony enthusiasts dished at Xbox for paid online multiplayer? Now that Sony's gone that route, the animosity has receded. Nintendo fans lambasted cynical and abusive DLC practices, then bought up Amiibo by the truckload. It's just human nature.

I'm talking about loyalists that let the brand do whatever it wants and not the "it's bad if they do it but good if we do it" hypocrisy. The loyalists mindset is not exclusive to nintendo's fans but it's definitely more prominent among those fans compared to the other 2. There's nothing really wrong with having loyal fans but it's detrimental to what nintendo fans want in terms of games and features versus what they get if it's unchecked or unconditional loyality.

I'm willing to entertain that hypothesis, but can you provide any hard data that backs it up - other than anecdotal evidence?

I don't think you get it. Its not just miiverse. Its what it shows. Its a positive environment. Its a family friendly environment. It might be the last positive environment left in gaming. Shitposting is kept to a minimum or is moderated right away. Its filled with helpful tips if you get lost. But more importantly, its filled with like minded fans who care about Nintendo gaming as much as everyone else does.

If Nintendo shut down Miiverse I wouldn't be affected. But I'll have to watch the kids like a hawk every time they access anything online and gaming related. Its not just me. But the future generations of gamers are on it. People like to pretend its just about them, but if Nintendo goes 3rd party then the last best hope for good gaming for my family is gone. I'm not going to get a Sony machine. I'm not going to get a Xbox. There's only one brand I trust with quality gaming and that I'd trust my family to. And if they stop making consoles then I'm out.

Well.. I would keep playing their stuff in other platforms.
I´m not sure if I´ll get a NX.... there´s so much to play on my backlog of WiiU and 3ds games..

I think it is going to do worse than WII U. Glad to see there are other people who would still play them if they went third party.

I´m worried about that.

Many people don´t agree with me, but I really think that Nintendo´s decision in cutting game development for the WiiU in such short time is really hurting  the trust that fans and consumers may still have for them.  As we have little information about the NX, I´m afraid that many people will think twice before buying it, even fans, and it may flop just like the WiiU.

I really hope they give a big push to their mobile and  in the future, because Nintendo needs to refocus and make their games acessible to more people. We still don´t know much about NX strategy yet, we know the concept but we don´t know how they will manage it, or if it will be well accepted by consumers.

I just hope they do the right thing this time.

Yeah you're right I didn't understand what you were getting at, I apologize.

I can definitely understand where you are coming from, family friendly entertainment is certainly in decline which isn't a good thing at all. It's very commendable that unlike most parents you actually monitor your children's usage. Nintendo consoles are definitely the best and safest place for family entertainment.

To be fair its not my kids. Its my niece and nephew. I'm the godfather to my niece and raised my nephew since he was 1. They're at gaming age now and I had a talk with my brothers and they decided that it was best to raise them retro and work up from there. The only game console that they use that can use online is my Wii U. They like to play SM3DW, the Wii Sports games and Captain Toad along with other games like Nintendoland and Mario Kart 8. They really got hooked on Splatoon.

Its easy to forget that gaming isn't just about yourself until you are responsible for someone else. Then when you're looking for entertainment options for them you really see how much gaming has changed. I remember games like Aero the Acrobat, Uniracers, Stunt Race FX and Ristar. Almost all the games that are family oriented are gone. E3 is nothing but a gore fest filled with zombies, guns, and violence. Its getting harder and harder to find a game that is just a good game that everyone can play that isn't Nintendo branded. When Nintendo stops making consoles, then I'm out. I don't think I can trust MS or Sony with my family.

It's just my personal opinion on what I observe from other gamers. It's not like there's studies being done on which fanbase has the more loyal (to a fault) fanbase.
