Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Windows Update is a joke.

I have an issue where I'm sleeping and my computer wakes up from sleep. Nothing runs and my mouse is off when I put my computer to sleep. Anyone else have the same issue with Windows 10?

Also, the updates are annoying. Windows 10 is meh compared to 7, but the updates truly get repetitive. If Mac OS was capable of being downloaded onto any pc(and worked with many games), I'd take it over windows 10 in a heartbeat

Haha!

You're lying btw, or it's country specific

If so, why do so many people have lice in Canada, ack!

You're both wrong. It's user-specific. Google is known for personalizing search results, and I'm sure it's more or less the same for search suggestions.

That's actually plausible:
I have gotten stuck reinstalling windows 7.
The school my kids go to had a case of lice last year (thankfully not my kids)
Google might have seen the mess in our house through a webcam and calculated the possibility of bed bugs.
Google certainly knows my age for the testicular cancer suggestion.
Where's that twilight zone music.

Bing is even more efficient as Google, 6 letters is enough

How do they know I drive a bmw (I do not)

Yahoo however doesn't even know my gender

Again with the lice and cancer, ugh.

I had none of the issues that your friend reported.

I've had involuntary "upgrades" to W10 accidentally triggered on one of my laptops and my desktop by my family members not realising that hitting the red x to close was acceptance of the upgrade, and once the upgrade starts you can't stop it. I've resigned myself to accepting the new OS and so far things haven't gotten worse, so I may be lucky, but I also don;t think there has been any windows updates since I got these involuntary installs.

So install a different os. Problem solved.

Anyhow... user error.

Did you read the OP?

The eternal "checking for updates" on both windows 7/8 is a very common bug when it requires a lot of patching.

in fact if you google "checking f" by that stage google will suggest

an issue 1 worse than testicle cancer. Should at least attempt to read OP before reacting to the title at a guess?.

You know for some people Microsoft can do no wrong, so if you are experiencing problems it must be, by definition, user error.

I definitely prefer testicular cancer in both of my testicles, and the one left undescended, over bedbugs.

Screw bedbugs, a true nightmare!

I would guess to be fair that if you were a fan or even neutral towards Ms though, the thread title is very strongly worded and could well invoke a "fuck you so" reaction from some people, I understand it's as annoying as all heck when you just want to get a PC back up and running and it does that infinite checking for updates (I normally resolve it by just restarting over and over about 5-10 mins into the thing, eventually it manages to install 1 or 2 updates which seem to iron out issues, but yeah it's torture).

That said though

WHY DO SO MANY COUNTRIES HAVE LICE, WTF YOU GUYS, I'M NEVER GOING ANYWHERE OUTSIDE OF IRELAND AGAIN, UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

Also @ SvennoJ I lol'd that Yahoo doesn't know any issues, I'm surprised the results aren't "Checking for blockbuster opening hours" or "checking for solitare in Windows 95" Ahh Yahoo, you so outta touch.

You think YOU'RE having issues... it literally killed one of my laptops. Yes, that's right... the damn thing is dead now. I'm not even joking.

Win10 or windows update? either way, time to break out the windows 7/8 installation CDs I guess, sorry to hear that. Or if you had files you wanted on the laptop, take the hdd out of it, connect to your PC (Laptop Sata drives perfectly work in a PC) and remove the files that way before reformatting it, also you'll need to be logged in as an administrator to access the user files of the other harddrive and may require your login password if you have one on your user account.

The title is definitely inflammatory. I was really angry though, trying multiple solutions and having 10 firefox tabs open on the same subject and nothing is working. I don't mind the "user error" comments.

If it was my laptop I wouldn't have tried as hard. My PC habits are responsible and I don't do anything that may have negative effects on my device or data and I backup my stuff daily when I go to sleep. But when it's other people's stuff, I have to make sure all security updates are installed along with Microsoft Security Essentials or whatever works these days.
