Forums - Gaming Discussion - Who will make games to showcase the power of Scorpio?

Even though i lost my faith in MS ever since they had a bunch of circus clown on stage and announced Kinect, I have to say that Scorpio got my attention. It reminds me of the orginal Xbox, which made the ps2 look like a toy in comparison.

As a graphics whore, the orginal Xbox seemed like the perfect console. However, it's biggest problem - and the the reason why I still ended up playing more on the ps2 -was the fact that there were hardly any decent games for it, while the ps2 got all the big budget blockbuster games. So what you guys think? Will the same thing happen with Scorpio and just get ports from ps4 games running at a slightly higher resolution, or will it get proper exclusives designed from the ground up around Scorpio's hardware? And if so, who's going to make those games when the ps4 will probably end up with a 20:1 userbase advantage again?

I can only see future Halo, Gears and Forza being the only games utilizing Scorpio's full potential.

No one, the thing is supposed to make current gen games render at 4K, a task I'm not entirely convinced of with the more demanding games. But I think we might see some Scorpio only games like Star Citizen(upscaled to 4k).

It sounds like MS wants to go all in on the 4K buzzword. It's overkill for just downsampled 1080p@Ultra settings but might just be enough for 4k@medium.

I mean, if all it do is 4K, then not many people will be convinced to get one through a youtube video, the latest Forza and Halo will still look the same.

MS will and some third parties will. Maybe EA and UBI, MS has had a strong relationship with them this gen.

not one game if it fulfills the promise of "no one is left behind". same goes for neo.

although this is ms so deciding going back on a promise and doing the exact opposite thing is always a possibility.

Could it be another cloud and Direct X 12 situation?

I don't think so, Different than the Direct X and Cloud the Scorpio is indeed a piece of Hardware and not a  software.

I sure hope not. 4K Is kinda useless when most people either don't own a 4k tv or sit too far away from the screen to really see much difference. 4K might be awesome for VR and pc gaming, where you face is plastered to a screen and you will really notice the resolution bump, but for normal gaming, it's a massive waste of compute resources.

Almost all that power will be used for graphical enhancement, not for actually making games better. Same for Neo. That's why I will probably just buy a normal PS4. I don't care about "Ultra High" or 4K resolution.

That exception might be VR, if that's something you're interested in.

"All my PS4 and Wii U games are already upscaled to 4k. Why would I need stronger hardware???"
