Forums - Gaming Discussion - Overwatch discussion thread - Christmas update is here!

I've been playing this for two weeks now, it's my favourite multiplayer game of the generation. It reviewed really well, and has had over 10 million players already. But it seems to have just passed this forum by (apart from a thread about the lack of launch content). So I was wondering if we could try a discussion thread about it.

What do you think of the game?

Who are you enjoying, who can't you get to grips with?

What do you think of the balancing?

Do you thinl there is enough content?

Hopefully there is enough people playing here to get a decent thread going

I think a big part depends on which platform you play on. I got it for Xbox One because most of my friends are on there, and I'm loving it. I usually only play a couple rounds vs. AI if nobody I know is on, but if they are we can go for hours.

Yeah, I can definitely play for hours when I get into it, which is true of only a few multiplayer shooters I have ever played.

And I've only tried 7 or 8 of the heroes so far, so I think there is a lot of longevity there.

I've played it on the PS4 and it's quite a lot of fun although it sometimes takes a lot of time finding games.

Let's just get my complaints out of the way now:
Turrets are ridiculously overpowered and should not auto-target in half a second. It makes them cheap and the Play of the Game eternally sucks if a higher level turret ends up in a good spot.

The fact that they don't limit the number of times a hero can be on a team is also really annoying at times. I've played some games with three Torbjorns on the enemy team, and that was basically that. Even when we took a turret out, another was just replaced immediately. Even if you kill a hero, their gear stays behind, so it isn't as if killing the hero is a solution. Honestly, for the sake of the balance in random matches, I wish they would put a hard cap on one of a particular hero per team. That or limit the amount of certain kinds of hardware a team can have out. As it stands, the free for fall that every match is can absolutely decimate team balance.

All of that aside, I have been enjoying the game well enough. I've played around 20 hours so far since the game launched, have suffered the leaver penalty because the game insists on backfilling individual players on losing teams in nearly over games, and tried the modes of the week. It took me about 15 of those hours to actually get a victory on all maps in the game, defending and attacking, because of the backfilling issue. The game is more fun when I'm playing with my friend though for sure, if for no other reason than a seriously losing team usually won't have two free slots at any given moment.

As for heroes, I've familiarized myself with Roadhog, D. Va, Junkrat, Widowmaker, Mei, Soldier 76, McCree, Reaper, Mercy, Zenyatta, and a few others. The random hero mode really helped me branch out and realize what could be done with other heroes. At this point I probably prefer the tanks, but the so called defense heroes aren't so bad to use either.

Let's talk Overwatch porn!

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

I was really reluctant to buy the game because with most multiplayer only titles I don't end up playing it enough to justify the cost. I love Blizzard games, and the reviews were really good so I decided to pick it up.

Glad I did though because I love it. I really enjoy the art style of the game, and the story trailers Blizzard ran on game sites and youtube really help flesh out the characters a bit. It runs flawlessly on my Xbox One, and the pick up and play a quick match, or several is awesome.

I love how quick the matches are that I can switch between characters with different styles on the fly to hopefully swing the outcome of a match.

My only gripe is that I don't have many friends who own the game so I usually just jump in quick matches with randoms. Sometimes, but not always, I get teamed up against a party that is (freaking disgustingly good) and get faced rolled in like 5 minutes. But the game is so much fun, I just shrug it off and move to the next match.

Been playing the game since the beginning of June and it's been a blast.

Right now, I love playing Reaper, Lucio, and Mercy; Reaper because his abilities and damage output are pretty ridiculous, and the latter two because healing the team is important. I also play some Junkrat as Demoman was my fav character in TF2, and Junkrat reminds me a lot of him.

Not sure who needs balancing right now, maybe Zenyatta and Bastion could use small buffs, but that's just what I think.

I'm personally fine with the amount of content in the game, and while I don't care for a story mode, I am down with the idea for an Overwatch movie.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

I think both of them are okay, really. Zenyatta is meant to primarily act as team support, and he does that well if the player uses his orbs properly. His actual attack is pretty strong if you hit someone with a Discord Orb first. As for Bastion, he's a defense hero. His regular assault rifle attack isn't meant to be all that strong. It can kill, but his primary purpose is his turret mode, hunkering down and shredding everything in site. His turret mode is borderline overpowered, capable of tearing through even tanks in half a clip at most, so I'd say he's pretty okay.

Do you get points and loot boxes for playing vs AI?
