Ps4 has brought Sony to new revenue heights. Their profits over the next 4 years will likely be huge too.

I think that this is due to Online gaming, Dlcs, and Playstation Plus signatures, they would have more money if the PS2 had those kind of things.

Of course it is.  A return to market dominance and more profitable hardware are also other factors

Looks like they are slowly taking away the losses they incurred during the early PS3 days (getting back to their PS2 total profit high days). Good to see Sony on more stable ground especially after they shed a bunch of loss making divisions (I know these charts only show game division though). Hopefully, they won't have to sell anymore buildings.

I'll try to find and post other quotes from the same guy where he says that Sony's gaming division makes up like 15% of Sony net revenue (or something like that)

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

It is great to see they are headed down the right path. Things were really dire until just recently.

There company as a whole is still hurting, but there gaming division has really rebounded to help stabilize things a bit.

That information is not correct since for a long time their operating income was buried with other services.

Actually this data is correct and is taken from Sony's SEC Fillings where they specifically broke out gaming division performance.

Hence why I said it's taken me a long time to get all this data and now I have a definitive break down of how the gaming division did itself.

So please don't be so quick to dismiss this/

My mistake then. Great work.

No offense but since when have they broken down those filings right to level of only gaming, when did they start doing this, previous filings although they may have been called gaming actually included a lot more? be interesting for you to link some of the filings for reading.

Sure.

So in FY2011 when they restructured they released historical data for the Game division for the past 3 years which helped fill in the gap when they previously reported gaming alongside PC & other divisions.

In this document. Page F-96 & F-97 you can find a break down for FY2009, 2010 & 2011.

http://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/IR/library/FY2012_6K_PDF.pdf

In FY2012 they introduced new Network services to PSN and started to count it in a Network division, now known as Games & Network Services. They did the same thing where they released a revised document which included the addition of Network sales for the previous years.

Ultimately we now have a full break down from Sony on their Game and Network Services performance from FY1995 to FY2015.

However, what is missing is the inital investment and first year sales of FY1994 when the PlayStation first launched in Japan (4 months of data). At that time the PlayStation division was just thrown in with the electronics division and so Sony never actually released the individual Game segment performance until two years later.

If you want I can PM you all the raw data which i now 100% up to date and adjusted based on the latest figures from Sony themselves (as they restructured numerous times since 1995)

cool thanks, some interesting data their, still a little cloudy due to intersegment transactions but certainly a lot more than was previously revealed.
