*) Nintendo have spent an average of 12.6% of their total Net Revenue on R&D over the past 3 years, Sony have spent around 7% of their total net revenue on R&D over the past 3 years.

I don't know 'bout you, but I all of this quite interesting! I've also made a similar thread about Nintendo.

That information is not correct since for a long time their operating income was buried with other services.

I don't know how ZhugeEX gets his info, but I think we can get a fair estimate at the very least from these charts.

He got them from the Sony financials like everyone else. Gaming was combined with their laptop and TV in some financial years.

I'm not quite sure how, or if, he etrapolated some numbers from those divisions to get this data, or if he took them as a whole. He added some quite interesting numbers to some of these, like how in 2002 the gaming division stood for like 60% of the whole companies profits or something like that

Ps4 has brought Sony to new revenue heights. Their profits over the next 4 years will likely be huge too.

Look at how cheap it was to R&D the PS4.
And how little they lost on it first year, compaired to the PS3 (it was even cheaper than the PS2).

Thats a HUGE differnce.
Smart of Sony & MS to get their consoles made with APUs from AMD, useing exsisting technology.

I think that this is due to Online gaming, Dlcs, and Playstation Plus signatures, they would have more money if the PS2 had those kind of things.

The 7th gen was a rough time for Sony. Good to see them doing good this gen.

PS3 was really bad for them financially in the beginning.
