Forums - Nintendo Discussion - WiiU version of Zelda:BotW should be a late release. NX first.

That would send the message that Nintendo thinks of the Wii U as a failure and a piece of trash.

They already sent that message when the ported Botw to NX.

Well that will be most likely scenario, something similar to Twilight Princes when Wii version was released two weeks before GC version.

it would be stupid not to launch both at the same time

Actualy it wouldnt be, from business perspective it make much more sense to relase first NX version and make huge hype beacuse of that for their completly new platform, basicly NX version of game would be only in focus in that way, and just few weeks later relase Wii U version.

They already done exactly that with Twilight Princes and they dont great job (Wii version was sold everywhere at launch), they will most likely do same thing with this one again.

So to hell with the people who already have Wii U? I get it, but for Ninty's sake I hope that they have something in place that would get people to want to buy NX outside of the Ninty faithful

Well this Zelda will definitely bring and some people that are not just Ninety faithful, I saw lots a positive comments from people that skipped Wii U or never before played Zelda, saying they will buy NX for this game. This Zelda alone will definitely be huge system seller, but of course it not be only NX launch title.

I don't really see how this would make sense.. :/

That didnt really answer my question. And I would have to disagree, people could say whatever sales matter in the end. Money talks and all that. Best selling single Zelda game is still OOT for N64 and that system still only ended up selling about 35 mil? Im not saying it wont boost by being a launch title but I dont think its going to be that huge. Lifetime sales might be 7mil for NX version which is about what the series best games sell anyway

Twilight Princess.

And the GameCube had a bigger installbase.

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

Honestly, I think everyone here's making too much of a deal out of this on either way. A simultaneous release would not blunt sales or excitement for the NX, and a staggered release wouldn't hurt Nintendo in the long run.

The only way a staggered release would help Nintendo is if some Wii U owners who weren't going to buy a NX at launch were willing to buy one just to play Zelda a few weeks early. Wii U doesn't have that big of an install base, and of that install base, I doubt there's a significant portion that wasn't going to buy a NX but would be convinced to do so by a slightly sooner release date of a single game.

Meanwhile, as several people have mentioned before, Nintendo has already done staggered releases on multi console releases. Twilight Princess was a couple weeks, and Smash was out for a month or so on 3DS before it released on Wii U. Neither of those caused an uproar by Nintendo fans, so I seriously doubt this will.

Either way, it'll have a minimal effect, if it has any at all.

No, in fact it should be the other way around. They should release Zelda in November for Wii U and at release for NX.
