Hey guys,

So it's midnight, and I've been thinking about the Death Stranding trailer after talking to my friend earlier about it today.

Ok, so here is what I have so far.

The intro is a quote by William Blake from auguries of innocense.

To see the world in a grain of sand
And a Heaven in a flower,
hold infinity in the palm of your hand,
and eternity in an hour.

Norman Reedus, let's call him X, wakes up on a black beach covered in soot. Along the beach are many dead fish and other sealife. A cetacean stranding is a phenomenon by which sea life end up dead on shore. There is a black beach in Iceland, and the band who sings the song in the background "ill keep coming" is by low roar, an icelandic band.

Some people online did some sleuthing and discovered that the earlier picture of a man in a spacesuit from a few weeks ago is also the man, X.

Anyway, he wakes up on this beach, and he's naked and wearing handcuffs. Handcuffs which are closed at the other end, meaning he was attached to someone else. He looks around and sees only a baby, attached presumptively to him by a cord. He picks up the baby and cries, but then, the baby disappears, and he sees handprints made of oil trailing away. His hands are also now covered in oil. He gets up and we see he has a large scar on his belly, and wearing several locks.

Internet sleuths discovered that the locks have mathematical equations on them. One is a reference to a radius just outside of a black hole. The other talks about the symmetry between antimatter and matter.

Anyways, he gets up, looks toward where the handprints are moving and we see all kinds of stranded sealife, and five figures floating in the sky.

I believe that there is some reference to norse mythology. Perhaps he'd been inspired by the new god of war mythos. Anyway, there is a god named heimdallr, born of the nine mothers, represented as a tidal wave. Also in norse, there is a group of 5 known as the Aesir, consisting of Odin, Frigg, Thor, Baldr, and Tyr. There is additionally, another group called the Vanir, consisting of

Njorer
Freyr
Freyja
Njorer's sister
and Kvasir

Their specialties include fertility, wisdom, nature, magic, and the ability to see the future, and are associated with the sea.
Additionally, Heimdallr is theorized to be a part of this Vanir sub group.

I think there is a definite link between mythology and the beings and the person.

My entire theory is that X is a person who discovered the secret of time travel and was trying to test it with someone, who somehow disappeared, or was lost in the trip. The math equations kind of reference a space that exists between matter, and between destruction and creation. And is metaphorically referenced by the death of the sea life, and the childbirth. I also believe that the child is his child that he lost.The baby disappearing and replaced by oil is from the fact that dead tissues under certain circumstances, becomes oil over the period of millions of years. So oil appearing can be associated with traveling through time.

I came up with all this after noticing all the cords. There is lots of mythology talking about how cords connect the body to the soul. And there are cords everywhere in this trailer. Then I found out about iceland black beach and the singers, and it all came together. The cords are the cords of the Norn. The fateweavers, whom are all female btw (kojima, you dog, wink wink). So, I think it's also possible that the beings in the sky are Norn.

I think X time traveled and somehow ended up in an event horizon, a place where life and death coexists. The realm of the gods. He is trapped there and his only way back is to reconnect his cord. (but he has no bellybutton, eh? nudge nudge)

The song is entitled, I'll keep Coming, which could mean that he's trying to find someone or something, and keeps trying to revisit someplace to find it.

Basically, I think the game is going to be about a guy who uses time travel to try and change fate, but is treading upon territory he shouldn't be. It fits in with a lot of the traditionaly Kojima themes such as using science to the point of destruction.

That's my theory, hope you like it :D

EDIT2: Interestingly enough, it also has some possible references to the quantic dream game about changing the future.

Interesting but I saw the handcuffs as symbolism for a man freed from his captors, the baby as symbolism for his creation, it disappearing from his grasp as symbolism for his creation being stolen and the cruciate scar as symbolism for the pain of birth and how much it hurt to have his creation torn from him.

One thing.

Like already stated, Reedus is also the guy in the space suit. Kojima says it has nothing to do with the game but I dont believe him. Where does the spece suit fit in?

This is actually how I thought about it.

Kojima was a HUGE fan of Daid Bowie.

Here I am sitting in a tin can, far far away. The planet earth is blue and I don't know what to do.

Every time I listen to Bowie singing that line I can't help feeling it's not meant to be taken literally. I think it telling us that Bowie felt isolated (living in a tin can) because the world made him feel unhappy (planet earth is blue).

Sybolism is a huge part of what Kojima does which is why people analyise everything a does.

I like theories.

That's some Portal 2 type stuff, almost.

I think X is responsible for something. He did something, an experiment, made a discovery, that resulted in death. Whatever it was, he was held responsible, and he feels responsible. But he has powers ... perhaps teleportation? Maybe when he uses his powers, it kills everything. Maybe he's no longer human, no longer "connected" to humanity or to life.

The strands of fate are a possibility. That would mean that his has been severed and he is no longer bound by fate.

Crazy enough to be a Kojima story. Excited to find out.

The baby of the Kojima trailer is, in fact, the fetus on the sink of P.T. You can't argue with that.
