DDR4 is still pricy. 2017 means vega and not polaris imo.

Talking about what a pc can achieve and a console can achieve with the same or similar specs is always a little off is it not?

The xbox one can do far more than the equivalent powered PC, as can the Ps4.

Look at what the 360 was able to do for god sake, the equivalent PC cant do anything close.

This is true, but we also know that Sony and MS consistently over promise and under deliver in terms of graphical output. I don't doubt some games will be 4K native, but given past form I'm going to be unsurprised if all of the most graphically demanding games are upscaled 4K.

Neo is only for there crapy VR, the ps4 now cant do vr and neo cant even do 4 k games
So the new xbox slim can do everytning neo can do except vr is will be a fad like 3d was

the Xbox Scoprion wont do native 4K as of now, graphicscards with 6TF on an overclocked Intel Corei7s are even struggling rendering in 4K

MS will pull it off. DX12 will finally come into play here. I wouldn't be shocked in the least if Scorpio becomes the leading device for 4k gaming. I know it certainly won't be the Neo.

Memory: 12GB of GDDR5?

Microsoft also dropped some hard figures in terms of memory bandwidth too, telling us that Scorpio has over 320GB/s of throughput. This gives us a couple of useful data points. Firstly, it's almost certainly the case that the ESRAM experiment on Xbox One is now a thing of the past - Microsoft will be following the approach pioneered by Sony in using a single, unified pool of memory based on PC graphics RAM technology. Which technology that is remains to be seen - will it be GDDR5 or the faster G5X found in Nvidia's GTX 1080?

This is where it all falls a part. If you have a bandwidth of 320Gb/s then it doesn't matter if you have DDR3, GDDR5, GDDR5X or even HBM. They are offering the exact same amount of performance.

While 6TF is not really enough for 4k Gaming on pc it migth be different for consoles. I have no doubt that some titles will be native 4k while other will have better framerate or better AA.

Flops has no correllation with resolution.

Vega is GCN 4.0 like Polaris. Microsoft has likely used Polaris and done a semi-custom design of it to meet it's performance targets.
Vega hasn't taped out as far as I know.

AMD builds it's GPU's to be fairly modular, they can add or take away functional units for specific markets or customers, you don't have to take a large GPU and hack bits off/die harvest.

A Geforce 1070 which Polaris 10 is likely to be competing against eventually...  Can do 4k 30fps just fine. Scorpio will have a few advantages over the 1070 though such as more bandwidth, which is important for high resolutions.

CPU's tend not to impact resolutions that much, usually it just hampers minimum and maximum framerates, but considering consoles are a set-quanitity in terms of CPU performance, developers can build their games within those walls.

ha ha, um the Xbox 360 would like to have a word with you...

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

The issue for both the Scorpio and the Neo is how are they going to be able to take true advantage of the hardware. The baseline for all games has to be the original hardware. That will handicap what they can do. If they truly push the hardware, they'll end up with a Hyrule Warriors 3DS/New 3DS situation and a lot of pissed off consumers.

This!

The Xbox 360 has eDRAM which is a similar concept to the Xbox One's memory hierachy.

The original Xbox however... ;)
