If this is true,I wonder if it will get the same flack As ff13 for not having towns or will it be "justified" for not having them.

XIII got flack because it was a corridor fest and SE's defence was that having towns in HD requires much more power, everyone who plays it agrees that the best part was the open field where you could wonder around and do what you want.

I know why ff13 got stick, towns was one of them.I asked if this will get stick for not having any.One of the ways to be immersed in a world is the interaction with npc's and towns, it helps a lot with open world games.

Well, maybe but having a Kakariko village like town would be super awesome. Also giving the Shadow of the colossus example dont work for me, since Im not really a fan of that game lol

The example wasn't really meant to change your mind but to give you an idea of what they're aiming for, in the stream the first npc tells you the land has been in ruin for ages and going by when Link wakes up trouble has been running rampant with no answer to it so it makes sense the towns are no longer around and just little camps and huts littered around the land with some possible settlements.

Having a Kakariko like village would likely not fit in with what they're going for and would just be there for the sake of it with no real purpose in the game, SS started the trend of removing clutter after all.

Well, it dosent need to be the size of kakariko village, but lets say, 5 houses put together, with a market and maybe a blacksmith, pack with interesting carachters.Thats what Im hoping for.

And towns was just confirmed, though the may be more(or less) than we think(its at the end of the page)

So this rumor is false.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

SOTC had no NPCs and never had a problem, the first Zelda game itself had few NPC and no towns, towns in Zelda aren't as big an issue as in FF because they're different types of game franchises.

Hyrule in ruin confirms the game is well late in its timeline, much like the first game which is at the end of the Hero's defeat timeline.

I dunno.  The game mentions Hylia several times.  Far as I know, Hylia was never mentioned beyond Skyward Sword.  Makes me think it's earlier in the timeline.

SOTC was very clear what you had to do it was not exploration in the sense of Zelda. It was open world yes but still story driven. It was not a world you get lost in like a Witcher or Skyrim.Zelda seems to be taking the approach of the latter.

Oh GOD NO. I really don't want a big empty world with 'no towns' and 'only a few stray NPCs'. This takes a lot of my excitement for the game.

The thing I love most about Zelda is it's personality and the wonderful NPCs. If there's none of that I might as well not play it. :(

i'm sure they'll have refugee camps..... No way they wouldn't have an area with a vast variety of NPC's.

Not having a side kick isn't really the worst thing in the world since they r annoying but hopefully there are towns. Usually those liven up the place a bit more

Reminds me of the older titles like Link to the past, Oracle of Time/Seasons and I can totally dig that because I loved those 3 titles a lot.

Lake Hylia was in Twilight Princess (and probably elsewhere) which is one of the latest games in the timeline.
