Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Rumour: Zelda U/NX has no Towns/no sidekick

I kind of like there being a town but from what I've seen this game has such a beautiful vibe... it's almost akin to Adventure Time haha, just evidence of civilization everywhere and the whole thing open for exploring.

I'll trust their decision; this game looks like Zelda meets Talos. I'm also really curious about what his mission will be given there doesn't appear to be much to protect.

It makes sense but...I kinda wanted some towns in the game. No hyrule castle at least? Maybe something happens mid game or something. Kinda bummed about this.

I hope that's not the case. I've been wanting MORE towns in Zelda, not fewer. Although, interestingly, I haven't seen any Rupees in BotW yet...

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

If this is true,I wonder if it will get the same flack As ff13 for not having towns or will it be "justified" for not having them.

some people will have a problem, some people are going to be ok with it, zelda is a very divisive franchise among fans.

Hmmm... it might get away with it, we'll just have to wait and see if the World feels too empty or not. No towns and a handful of NPC's doesn't sound great but we won't know till next year. I'm confident.

Hope the part of not habing towns is not true. Its always very nice to go into towns and there be lively and all.And I mean, Hyrule being in ruins is not an excuse to not have a village or houses with people in it.Carachters need to live somewhere right?

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

XIII got flack because it was a corridor fest and SE's defence was that having towns in HD requires much more power, everyone who plays it agrees that the best part was the open field where you could wonder around and do what you want.

That's true, no rupees but tons and tons of resources... I wonder if they intend this game to be a "Craft your own stuff" sort of game?

I wouldn't mind that change. Personally, one of the things I've always loved most about Zelda are the in-game characters that are wonderfully weird in a way only Zelda really pulls off, so I'll miss those if they're not present.

We probably shouldn't think too much into this quote, though; there must be SOME people in the game lol

I'll be okay with no towns if there are villages and NPCs still. If those aren't there either then I hope the overworld is really interesting which so far it does.

Yeah, I've only played Ocarina and Majora's Mask so far and have the rest to work through yet but I'm not sure how the Charm, Personality and Atmosphere of a Zelda game will hold up without towns and apparently relatively few NPC's...
