Forums - Sony Discussion - God of war is ruined (opinion)

Looks refreshing i thought

I didn't like it initially (big God of War fan here) and I don't like they are heading down the Darksouls path to some extend, but it still looks like a solid game. I'm not hyped but I'm not feeling any aversion either. Totally in the grey zone so far.

They've ruined so many things this E3.

the more Dark Souls the direction of the game goes the better

Looks like they have good balance, don't want it to go too far that way either.

Yeah, I don't know what the hell that was.

I love God of War, but that trailer last night looked like Uncharted/The Last of Us with a Norse mythology reskin.

It's awesome that others will love that, but I'm left cold. For me, it's a letdown and it was a poor way to jumpstart the conference.

Looks more like a combination of God of War and The Last of Us to me. Coming from one of the biggest GoW fans around, i thought it looked interesting. I mean i love the old God of War games but the gameplay started to get a bit repetative after God of War 3.

it looks great!

so far the combat didnt looks as fluid and great as the first ones, but it looked really solid and intense, and i gotta play it to make a final judgement.

Heh, I don't see the comparison at all, but each to their own I guess.

I'm not a GoW fan (haven't played them), so coming without a set perspective of what a god of war game is, I thought it looked great. I have a few friends that are into GoW though, and they seemed very excited to see a change in the formula. Though they are also Dark Souls fans, and this seems a bit Dark Souls-ish, so maybe that's the reason.

An IP that has four installments needs to do something different, some will like it and some will hate it. I personally like the new approach for God of War. I will explain why the original triology hit it's climax when part 3 arrived. You simply can't top that game as accension, (while still enjoyable enough) proved. Sure the game had it's epics but if we are fair it just wasn't as awesome as fighting against gods and titans. A newer more open world (or at least those pop ups of learning) skills seems like a good re-imagining of the series. Why they choose to hold on to kratos is beyond me, anyways the series is starting fresh and does things differently I can only encourage that. Besides I still thought the troll battle was pretty awesome and the battling with the minions still looked good enough especially brutally murdering one with your fists. (Oh come on everyone is a bit of a sadist when playing God of War).

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar
