Kingdom hearts was  never like this. Come on, man! Watch this gsmeplay again. They went full modern, slow, realistic mocap with their animations. I wouldn't be surprised if there are a few faster weapons, but this gsme is never going to come close to the speed and fluidity of OG GoW. If you're expecting more, you're going to be horribly disappointed. I'm warning you, do not go in expecting a fast game, because that's not what this is going to be. I knew that the moment he started walking around, and the next ten minutes confirmed it beyond the shadow of a doubt.

I'm not saying it will build up to the same speed as the originals.  Lol.  But I think it's not unreasonable to think the pace will pick up (potentially).

I see, well, that's more sensible, lol. I'm sure you'll be able to ditch the heavy axe at some point for something a little faster -- weapon choices are something they'd better keep from the earlier games. Some sort of god powers should give a boost at some point as well, but still... O_o

I think Santa Monica probably realised that GoW was getting a little stale after Ascension, and decided to take a gamble and make, like, the hugest departure from the original formula that they could possibly concieve. This is easily the biggest shock this E3, if you ask me. We'll see how it pans out, but I  can't believe Sony would do this with one of their most iconic franchises. The balls on them!

Old God of War has been done to death. I'm ready for a new feel. Important to note that this demo is clearly from the start of the game. Kratos will get more impressive and the level design will open up significantly. Judging by those 'discovery' notifications, it seems this new game could even be nearly open world or at least have a strong exploration component. I'm excited to see more. It certainly seems to already be solid on a technical level.

We've had 6 of these. 6 I for one am glad that we are getting something new. IMHO there was nothing they could have done with the original formula, nowhere left to go

I've been a huge God of War fan and immediately fell in love with the game and combat.

Onionberry is right though, the combat is slower and they have taken away the hordes of enemies from previous games from the looks of things to focus on smaller more intimate encounters.

For me it makes sense. Kratos is older, he no longer has the chains and blades that can be used for crowd control and he is in a different world.

I know some people are complaining but the reality is SSM was never going to win this. Some people want Kratos, some don't. Some people loved the fix camera, others have been asking for it to change. Some people loved the combat, others were bored of it by the end as nothing much changed at all over the series and every weapon handled the same. Some people didn't mind Kratos as a character others felt he was too 2 dimensional and needed more depth.

There is no way they could please both and from the looks of things Corey has designed the game around the story he had created for Kratos.

The combat doesn't look as slow as Ryse, nor as fast as previous GOWs, and you are right about NG etc, but you have to remember this, in those games you are in the same time, same world, with the same person and the same or very similar circumstances. This is not the same as that.

this seems like a breath of fresh air... a lot of people got tired of GOW after Ascension

To be perfectly honest, I kind of like how it looks and how it might play.  Mostly because it seems set up in a way that could allow a stronger focus on its story and a little more freedom with its combat.  Maybe.  Of course I only watched the gameplay trailer and not anything else of it (and only once) so I could be mistaken.

I like it. It's a new type of God Of War with Norse gods so I can't wait.

I'm highly disagree. God of War trilogy was amazing! It's def one of the Greater hack n slash out there. But the story was very cliches, and Kratos just feel very 2D. There are no real emotions and i can't help but cannot connect with the character. With this game however, i felt the emotions, the father and son relationship like TLOU. God of War 3 know for it badassery, blood & Gore with great action, but now it will know for more than just that.

Oh and for those who didn't know. This is not a reboot, it's a SEQUEL. Just look at his right eye scar and stomach scar. It's him, Kratos!

Edit: Sorry, you guys was talking about the game mechanic XD!

I like it without a doubt.

People will always find something to complain about. No one here has played it so no one knows how fast it is.

I own every GOW game and this not only looks like the best one to date, but possibly the game of the generation already aside from HZD.

GOW was never a fast paced game combat wise which makes it seem like some of you never played it. GOW was about brutal and powerful combat, not speed and gimmicky combos.

The speed is appropriate as well as the situational attacks. Kratos is not a demon, a witch or a ninja. He is a muscular Spartan who has moderate speed but quick reflexes.

The grapple system has always been what GOW combat was built around, not melee attacks only. These two work in tandem to create more diverse combat not seen in similar games.

GOW was never a hack in slash game. It actually had a story, set pieces, traversal gameplay, platforming and puzzles. So it was deeper than people are making it out to be.

The fixed camera was always outdated and one of the things I never liked as well as the arena style fights. They added everything I dreamed of and more.

How about you wait until you actually play it than criticize a game that has only showed about 10 incredible minutes of gameplay that destroys anything shown aside HZD and Days Gone?

Also if anyone is not impressed by how great the entire package looks than I find it hard you can name any thing better once again aside the other two games mentioned.

GOW4 PS4 has already made Uncharted 4 a memory which was currently the best game this generation and it has not even got a release date yet.

That's freaking amazing. How does Sony do it?
