Looks pretty sweet
- HDR apparently also has an effect on games
- 4K blu-ray playback included
- $399 starting price, 2TB model coming in August

Too expensive for me with the Scorpio coming next year. I thought the point of a slim was to reduce the price... I don't have any 4K blu-rays yet otherwise I might be more tempted. So far there's only one I'm interested in. I can wait. 4K tvs are only getting better the more patience I have :)

That's the price of the 2TB one...

Yeah I just realized, read it wrong. $299 for 500GB, $399 for 2TB.
Ofcourse 500GB is kinda pointless nowadays (always full ugh), plus with the crappy exchange rate it's still as much as I paid for the ps4 at launch.

Dunno what I'll do, FH3 looks great, yet maybe it will run at 60fps on Scorpio.
Perhaps just let the fall be for VR and get into 4K and upgrades in 2017. Poor wallet. From psvr and maybe a 4K tv when the dust settles over HDR, now there's NX, NEO, Scorpio + OR? Choice is good, just not for my bank balance :)

So you need an HDR tv (with 4K to be able to output); so I can play 4K blu rays on my Xbox S?

Also, can I use my existing Xbox One's external 5TB HDD on the S? That way I can buy the cheap version

http://www.polygon.com/e3/2016/6/13/11920958/xbox-one-slim-details-launch-date

Edit:  In the fine print on the video, you can see that it says stand and controller sold seperately.  They wouldn't include the controller, too, if it came with one.  The only thing I can think of is they took one out completely to save money OR it just comes with an old one, not the newer controller.

The Polygon article says all models include a contrller in the update.

True.  But why say controller sold seperately in the vid that MS put out?  My guess is the $299 SKU isn't packed with a controller to keep costs down.

I was not expecting a $299 price tag on that, really good show... that said, MS then went on to say that the X1 was pretty much just a gaming version of a windows 10 PC now, which was a bit of a bummer to see them pretty much move away from being a console player and trying to ram Windows and Xbox together to push the Windows Live store, I think PC gamers have been pretty clear they're not interested in it after GFWL (less than 2% of Tomb Raiders sales being on Win10 store) and Console gamers could now look at it as being the lower end option when it comes to games on a TV screen, also ... zero exclusives anymore really, only the MCC and H5 unless I missed news of those moving over as well?

That's a rather large block of text... and I'm far too tired to try to figure out if it makes sense, #sorry

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Because it's insane to sell a console and give you nothing to control it with...

Looks sexy tempted to buy one

What a ridiculous guess.

OT

I am stunned at the price of this.  A 4k blu ray player costs more.

Some people in this thread argued this price was impossible and LOL'sd that it was DOA at a higher price.

This is a bargain.

If these hardware announcements (S and Scorpion) had happenend in the Sony E3 and nothing else was announced then Sony would have automatically won E3 according to VGC forums.  But this is MS so it doesn't work that way.

Also the most retarded piece of bullshit we'll ever hear...

Wow, so it was legit. I was mistaken.

no it's not, power supplies is the most likely element to fail on any device, it's also one of the most heat generating element, and the one you need to switch if it's not universal and you go in different countries...

there is nothing remotely good about that... Its like people have their console standing in the middle of the living room with no cable... I like my PSU as far away from the device as it can/should be...

that's like people liking audio/video device and furniture being white... When white is video (light) worst enemy... And then they talk about graphics...................................................................

Most Powersupplies are universal, they will work on 240c, 230v, 110v etc'... The only thing you need to worry about then is how it connects to the power source.
If a power supply is designed properly, it shouldn't add heat to the system, but actually help with airflow and thus asisst in the removal of heat. (Aka. This is what PC's tend to do.)
Besides a Powersupply at 200w~ or less isn't exactly big, bulky, hot and expensive and unreliable.

not on consoles no they are not... I should know I have delt with the issue for more than a decade living between north America and Europe Europe for almost half of my life...

but it doesn't change that to this day the power supply is still one of the most likely component to fail in any electronic devices even more so when it is miniaturized to fit in a smaller space and even mor when that miniaturized psu is fit in a tight space with other heat generating elements... And that's true for PCs... If you keep your config unchanged till failure pretty sure beside mass memory disk errors due to read write the first thing that will go will be your PSU... And I don't what PSU you have had on your PCs but mine have always been enclosed so tight in an aluminum box that the vent is nowhere compensating the heat generated to help air flow... And that would be true for desktop PCs only anyway...

anyway I have seen and fixed or changed more PSU on laptops, desktops, consoles, TVs, sound amplifier, etc... Than any other comp heck my last one was on a professional grade treadmill that was fuse protected...
