An important lesson that most with money never really learn. The bitching you hear from highly paid people like stockbrokers is technically accurate - they don't often have a lot of savings - but that's because those folks spiral into wasting their money on things they don't need, over and over again. A bit of parsimony goes a long way, and all of a sudden your life is soooo much happier...

$50k in a place like Texas for example a person could live very well and probably be considered middle class. In a nyc or similar place, $50k is poor.

Because most people would like to improve their life. See if they have made progress over the years of hard work. This is one of many ways that someone can tell.

 

Why do you guys care? I am sure you do not, but I did not ask if you did. The question was whether I was middle class or not.

I dunno, I found it a strange question, so I replied.  I didnt really know why it matters to you to know if you are middle class or not. As others have said, it doesnt really matter how much you earn and what social status people are pigeon holed with. Perhaps its more a materialistic thing or you really do care about how well you are doing compared to other people.

By posting on an internet forum asking for comments, yes actually you did ask me.
