So, what already released games does everyone hope get an upgrade? Personal list:

  • inFAMOUS: Second Son & First Light - 60FPS (currently 30FPS)
  • Uncharted 4 - full 1080p/60FPS (currently 1080p/30FPS in SP and 900p/60FPS in MP)
  • Driveclub - 60FPS (currently 30FPS)
  • Grand Theft Auto V - 60FPS (currently 30FPS)

Don't get your hopes up in terms of framerate. Non of the rumours suggest it having a significantly improved CPU in order to enable double the FPS.

You assume games are CPU bound and thus pegging jaguar at 100% to begin with.

Not at E3? First Nintendo, now them? This is like the most important even to at least show off new hardware or at least show a tease for it. This is the time where the most amount of gamers are watching you! At least they'll be selling the PS4 alongside the NEO to prevent exclusives.

My take is they're more interested in selling people on PSVR this E3. Trying to hock that AND a premium PS4 might seem like they're stretching consumers a bit thin. Plus I imagine they'll announce everything specific about the Neo like the day before it launches, so it won't hinder PSr sales any more than need be.

the interview says quite a bit,.. i was expecting something more generic like "we will not be talking about any future hardware revisions at E3"

“All games will support the standard PS4 and we anticipate all or a very large majority of games will also support the high-end PS4,” he said.

good to have that confirmation from house.  i never believed the fears some people had about there being neo exclusives but it's good to be able to point to a direct quote now.  iterative hardware is the future and (imo) a good thing.

What makes me nervous about that quote is that it says "all or a very large majority."  So, they're saying there's a chance that not all PS4 games will work on the NEO.  If they can't guarantee to me that I'll be able to play every game, then I don't see why I would want one, as much as I would love the improved performance.  I really don't want to have to leave my standard PS4 and my NEO both hooked up to my TV.

If nintendo does it then they are doomed and its the worst move in history. If sony does it then its ok.

The NX is a NEW console. The Neo is not. The Neo is just an improved ones that will play the exact same games as the ps4.

Entirely different.

So, it's kind of like the New 3DS?

Pretty sure by 'support' he means 'have NEO settings.' It will surely run all PS4 software, but no guarantee all upcoming software will take full advantage of NEO powerz.

Except every PS4 games will be playable on the current PS4 and not have any exclusive to the Neo.

Maybe Sony will reveal the Neo at TGS 2016 then?

I hope it stays that way. My only concern is that there could a game where you would need the Neo in order for a game to be playable. I hope that doesn't happen.

So i was half wrong about ps4 neo is the ps4 slim upgraded, but i was right when i was saying Sony promote this for people that have 4k tv's, and keep both in the market.
Scary is that say is more expensive than 350 that goes for me on 450, but also will be real pain in the a..s for old ps4 users if the games run defrently on two ps4's exept the 4k.
i bet 70% chance Sony push the Neo back after the news about xbox scorpio that was 2 Tflops more powerfull.
Good move, now the ball is on M$ that need more despert to finish the xbone and make a new one

Actually while that may be true I wa thinking more along the lines of older titles that wont be updated in any way for NEO

Different situation: Sony will be able to show many new (third and first party) games compatible to both PS4 and PS Neo.

Nintendo probably won't show many of new games compatible to Wii U and NX.

Yeaaahhh. thats what i mean, everyone will find a way to convince themself that its a different situation and that sony is doing the right move.
