Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony confirms existence of PS4 Neo, not at E3

After those statements it would seem that Neo is considerably more expensive than the old PS4. I mean who would buy the old one if the objectively better console is just 100 bucks more.

Also, Andrew House calls everyone not buying the Neo "not hardcore".

it could still drop to 300 and the neo for 500 by the time

So they are skipping E3, just like Nintendo with the NX. Good or bad?

If nintendo does it then they are doomed and its the worst move in history. If sony does it then its ok.

No he didn't... he said the target audience for the new one was hardcore gamers, those willing to pay more on gaming for shinier graphics. He never said people who dont buy one aren't "hardcore" lol, only that casual players aren't the target demographics of the new console.

Different situation: Sony will be able to show many new (third and first party) games compatible to both PS4 and PS Neo.

Nintendo probably won't show many of new games compatible to Wii U and NX.

I presume a whole heap of the more casual gamers who pick up 2-3 games per year will comfortably sacrifice the Neo benefits in order to save $100 off their purchase.

Ugh, it better be out soon. I'm not wasting money on a double dip but I also want a PS4 this fall in time for FFXV and TLG.

the interview says quite a bit,.. i was expecting something more generic like "we will not be talking about any future hardware revisions at E3"

“All games will support the standard PS4 and we anticipate all or a very large majority of games will also support the high-end PS4,” he said.

good to have that confirmation from house.  i never believed the fears some people had about there being neo exclusives but it's good to be able to point to a direct quote now.  iterative hardware is the future and (imo) a good thing.

Not at E3? First Nintendo, now them? This is like the most important even to at least show off new hardware or at least show a tease for it. This is the time where the most amount of gamers are watching you! At least they'll be selling the PS4 alongside the NEO to prevent exclusives.

Seems like I can finally get a PS4 of my own when the Neo hits. I can't wait to see what the real difference will be.

It is near the end of the end....

So, what already released games does everyone hope get an upgrade? Personal list:

  • inFAMOUS: Second Son & First Light - 60FPS (currently 30FPS)
  • Uncharted 4 - full 1080p/60FPS (currently 1080p/30FPS in SP and 900p/60FPS in MP)
  • Driveclub - 60FPS (currently 30FPS)
  • Grand Theft Auto V - 60FPS (currently 30FPS)

Don't get your hopes up in terms of framerate. Non of the rumours suggest it having a significantly improved CPU in order to enable double the FPS.
