Forums - Sony Discussion - Rumour: Crash coming back...as Playstation Exclusive Skylanders

This whole Crash Bandicoot thing might become the biggest troll in video game history. If Sony announces on stage that Crash is back as an exclusive PS4 character in Skylanders then that would be quite the "fuck you" IMO. Unless it's exclusive because Sony now owns the IP.

That's quite wishful thinking.

In fact, it's quite a pitiful situation.  In reality, Activision probably hasn't sold the IP but will be accepting a limited paid-exclusivity  deal from Sony for this instead.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Ohhhhhhh I can feel the hate if this is true and there is also no true Crash game.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Well I wouldn't give this rumour any credibility, being just a tag on some Asian retailer site.

But Crash being in a Skylanders game 'could' be OK if done right. Unfortunately Skylanders don't really have any interaction with the story at all, not featured in cutscenes, all the story is told through other characters who arent Skylanders.

If they did make a crash Skylanders game the story would have to be very Crash Bandicoot heavy and themed and not just have crash as a shell of a character in a game that has nothing to do with him.

But I don't believe this rumour is true.

I find it weird that ppl here just literally copy paste neogaf topics.

that said, this doesnt mean that Sony doesnt have Crash. Could easily be side promotion (which makes a lot more sense then Sony just getting the IP) considering a Crash game wouldnt come out until next year.

This!
The only thing we can do right now is just wait and see approach until E3.

The spoiler part would make it worse, if sony not owned the IP you can blame Activision.

If Sony owns the IP they're 100% also making a new game. No reason to buy the IP otherwise.

Yeah sure but that wouldn't matter for 'the internetz' if sony comes at E3 announcing crash exclusive for PS4 skylanders but not announce a new crash game the internetz will hate it.

I said once that the only way for SONY to shock us at this point is NOT to announce a Crash game at E3. Well, I was wrong, there is even a better way to shock us, Skylanders: Crash edition

It's probably all they can do right now. It's really a risk reviving a franchise like Crash. Sure, the fanbase is there but it's another question when you find out how large that fan base is.And does it warrant another entry. Maybe if the Crash Skylander does well, they'll be a bit more persuaded to do a full game.

What is Skylander ?.

This.

First, Spyro was relegated to a supporting character in a pay-to-win toys-to-life empire. Then Donkey Kong and Bowser were wedged in. And now Crash? It just never ends.

If this rumor is true, of course :P

If this rumour is true, then fuck Sony as well. It's so unbelieveably stupid, the way they've been teasing Crash. It wouldn't even be so bad if they were just teasing it, but in reality nothing happened, but this? It makes no sense. The people that care about Crash don't care about Skylanders. Why on earth would they do this? This is way, way, way worse than Nuts'n Bolts, the Conker DLC for Project Spark and Federation Force combined. Dammit. Why can't they do the frikkin obvious. Ratchet & Clank just released to record sales for the franchise. That should be proof that there is a market for these games. But nooooooo.

This genuinely pisses me off. This doesn't happen often from video games news.

Isnt this what happened with FF7 afterall?

Skylander doesn't share any part of its demographic with Crash, so it makes no sense to check for demand for Crash through Skylanders.

They already have a great gauge for wether or not the Crash fanbase is there: The original Crash games released on PSN. They are constantly topping the European charts (like, almost continuosly, barring a few months where some random other games go on extreme sales), and the only reason they aren't topping the US charts is because they haven't been released on the PS4 as PS Classics, they're only available on the PS3 and Vita.
