Forums - General Discussion - Dad defends son(convicted rapist); "it was only 20 minutes of action"

http://www.cnn.com/videos/justice/2016/06/06/stanford-brock-turner-dads-appeal-reaction-michelle-landis-dauber-lv.cnn/video/playlists/stanford-rape-case/

Brock Turner, a former swimmer for Stanford, has been arrested for only six months for raping a girl and leaving her behind a dumpster naked. His father's thoughts? He is being punished too harshly.

Now, don't think the case is controversial in terms of legitamacy of the rape. Unlike other common cases, the woman was found by police and sent immediately to a police station, where tests where run to confirm Brock Turner is the rapist.

However, apparently six months is too long because he quote-to-quote "only had twenty minutes of action".

This is sickening. The fact that he has the audacity to defend his son makes me want to throw up. Most people don't even have sex for over 15 minutes. Why the hell would he even try to justify what his son did?

If I was Brock Turner's father, I'd shun him- he'd be nothing more than a mistake in my eyes, thinking that raping an unconscious girl is perfectly fine. How can you be worried about his life? What about the victim? The person who truly deserves help. Brock deserves to stay in bars for way longer than 6 months(at least 10 years). If he wanted his life to stay good, maybe he should've taught his son that raping someone is not ok.

But wait, he says it's too much because it was only 20 minutes? I should go shoot people at a mall. I mean, it's only, like, 20 minutes of my life. That justifies it all, right?

"Most people don't even have sex for over 15 minutes."

Wait, what?

OT: Yes, this rape is unjustifiable, can't add much.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Twenty minutes? Isn't that long by rape standards? I never really thought about it but always assumed it was rushed for obvious reasons.

God that's so creepy... 20 minutes with an unconscious woman behind a dumpster. There's no defending that.

And some people keep saying that we need less punishment ...

I don't want some of these laws going away for what would be considered morally reprehensible actions in first world societies ...

It takes less than a second to pull a trigger and murder someone. Should we not send murderers to jail because it was less than a second of action?

I was curious as to how long an average couple has sex for, and searched it up. http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/love-sex/how-long-does-sex-normally-last-a6971406.html#gallery

I know these studies can be inaccurate, but it provides a general statement.

Damn, only 6 months, i know here the judgement system is not that great also but holy hell , how the fuck he only got 6 months ...

While he gets 6 months, someone I know is getting 5 years just for owning marijuana.

The "love" for the children can be powerful, so much that it can make you blind in some occasions.

Please read more of these articles ;)

I would say, give the dad the bill for the court procedings and the professional help for the victim. I assume he's still responsible for his son. He can then claim that money from his son if he so wishes.

In my opinion, the little shit should get the death sentence as an example to others. it's not to punish him but to be rid of him. A lighter sentence wouldn't work because the guy doesn't see himself in the wrong and a person really can't learn his lession if that's the case.

The father should be publicily shamed for his comment but to be fair, the majority of parents who's kid has done something that messed up tend to think their kid is an angel and take their kid's word. They also believe their kid deserves the lightest sentence possible.
